Okay 3/18/2006

The idea of this place is neat but I was under the impression that it would be okay for kids and after touring I would say you would want to take older kids. The wait was a little long but I have to say that the replicas and the work that went into it is amazing. Follow the directions carefully, as it might be difficult to find for someone not from the area. If you have older children, it would make for a nice afternoon. If you have a larger group your can get a better price, so I would check into that also. more

Quick visit to and look at an ancient, intriguing culture 1/4/2006

I visited the Forbidden Gardens on a beautiful New Year's Eve. We arrived at noon but had to wait until the 1pm tour which was a little annoying but we had a video and some exhibits to look at in the meantime. The tour was very interesting - the gardens had thousands of clay replicas shipped in from China to recreate the underground armies of Emperor Qin of China. If you aren't familiar with the story (or if you are) it is an intriguing one and seeing the clay replicas of soldiers and buildings in the "Forbidden City" made me want to learn more about the ancient history of Chinese civilization. It is kind of out in the middle of nowhere but you can get there from Houston in less than an hour. more
