What a breath of fresh air Forbici is! In the middle of all the high-priced, high-attitude salons in the snootiest parts of the city of Atlanta, there is Forbici, like a cool breeze in the midst of a heat wave. From the time you walk in, you realize that this family-owned hair salon is different from the rest. I immediately felt welcome as soon as I walked in - somehow they managed to put me right at ease, whereas most of the time in salons I feel like everyone is sizing me up. Mattie Kennedy cut my hair - she apprenticed under her mom (the owner) for four years before taking her own clients. The thing that I appreciated about Mattie is that she actually listened to me (!!!), didn't do what I didn't want her to do, and politely asked before doing anything that she thought I might object to. She gave me several styling tips all throughout the appointment - you can tell she has plenty of experience in the salon industry, even though she considers herself a ""junior"" stylist. Believe me, I've experienced junior stylists who charge more, have more attitude, and have less knowledge about hair than she does. Although she only makes evening appointments, she seems dedicated to making her clients happy. My first experience at Forbici can be summed up by saying it was a warm, homey experience with people who seem to really be invested in their business and in you.
Pros: really nice people, family-owned hair salon without the attitude
Cons: parking is tight
