They are responsible for my Great Danes death! 8/20/2011

Being an outsider with an emergency in Yuma with this so called Hospital was the reason my Fantastic Great Dane "Duchess" Died. My Great Dane ,Duchess Got Bloat the night before we were to leave. We called the vet hospital that came up on emergency search for vets on our smart phone . We were rejected on the first call because we were not prier clients. My mother who lived in Yuma said to drop her name since she was a client at the time. That got us a half hour wait ti me while we waited for the vet Dr. Geri to call us back since the emergency happened after hours. I had to repeat all our info all three times and on the third it was with the doctor herself. She commented to me that she could not her me over all the noise that that dog was making in the background. (Or something very close to that.) I told her that was my dog dying because it has been an hour of suffering and no one was helping. After I had said that she told me that I didn't need to be rude. Then she said that there was nothing she could do for me at her" hospital" and that I had to go to La Mesa,Ca. 2 + hours away. My dog had no chance. I will be getting in contact with the Arizona Board of vets and report this loser that calls herself a vet . I may even look at litigation. I would love to see this woman suffer like my poor Duchess. P.S. The only reason that I gave one star was because it was needed to get this rating and warning out. I would have giving a negative 10 if it was possible. more

Mixed feelings about this vet 8/21/2005

We started using Foothills Animal Hospital when we first moved to Yuma, because it was very close to our home. Initially I was pleased with the vet. Most of our early visits to the vet were due to small problems with our dogs or annual vaccinations. One of my dogs, then, tore her cruciate ligament. I was beside myself because I knew she was in pain and couldn't use her leg. I took her to Foothills Animal Hospital for the ligament repair surgery. When I picked her up from the vet, she was in extreme pain. She cried the entire day and night. The vet had not given me pain pills for her, claiming that if she didn't feel the pain she wouldn't be properly cautious of leaving it alone. Well, in a couple of days she was past the pain, so I thought all was well. However I was still not happy at what she'd been through. I ended up going to a different vet who, upon x-raying her leg, claimed that the surgery had not been done in the best manner. When I mentioned the pain she had been through immediately post-op, this new vet assured me that if the surgery had been done at their clinic that the dog would have been kept at the clinic more than a day and been sent home with pain medicine. I therefore have mixed reviews of this vet. For small procedures and annual vaccinations, I think they are fine. For major surgeries, I would not go there again. I should mention that although I was told the surgery was not done in the best manner, my dog still has good use of her leg. I think my main issue was the pain that she went through immediately after her surgery. more
