Get thee to the Folger!
Great place to catch an intimate little show -- and not just Shakespeare plays, but works by his contemporaries and modern playwrights, too. Have seen some really wonderful productions here, two of the most memorable were a classic interpretation of ""King Lear"" (one of my fave Shakespeares to begin with) and a modern interpretation of ""Midsummer Night's Dream"" that incorporated the Mafia and used a pizza joint as the setting.
The theater is small and cozy which means most seats are great ones. There are, however, these giant columns/pillars providing structural support? I guess? And woe to the play goer whose seat is behind one. Your neck will break from the craning around those things. Be sure you know your seat is not anywhere near those bohemoths!
Pros: Great place fo rthe burnt out local to tour!
Cons: the plays beat the museum it self
