The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory is located at 100 South Calhoun Street in downtown Fort Wayne. The name comes from the two families who contributed the funds to create the conservatory. If you are coming from outside the city, you may have trouble finding the conservatory since it is partially hidden by a large office building as you approach from the southwest. If you are coming from the northeast, the conservatory will come up quickly on your right hand side after the large light stone church grounds.
The Botanical Conservatory, or Gardens as most locals call the site, is a wonderful place to visit, especially for children. The organization has programs throughout the school year and summer for preschool through eighth grades and high school students can get much from the exhibits. I enjoy going during the winter months since the humidity and indoor heat feel nice. The desert room is wonderful. Makes you think you are visiting Arizona for a vacation. The staff is friendly and the conservatory is well worth buying a family membership. With the membership card, you can visit any time, even during special exhibits and displays. Highly recommended and well worth a visit!
