Editorial review from Citysearch 11/14/2014

Avoid this place if you can! My father in law passed away in March of this year and a few days afterwards we picked out a stone for him. Four months later, my wife and entire family stopped by to see what the status was for the stone. When we arrived, my wife spoke to Bob that we were going to wait for him. He tells my wife, ""I'll be with you shortly"". So the entire family waited patiently, for over an hour. One of the staff members referred to another person on duty instead. We wanted to work with Bob because he was the one who originally helped us. Instead, we were assisted by Laura. We told her the situation concerning the stone and when it might me completed. She looks in the computer and cannot find anything. I started to think was this order even processed. Laura, walks out of the room and comes back ten minutes later. She tells us, ""can we pick out the stone again"". I figured out at that very moment she could not find it because Bob the person that originally helped us never processed the order in the first place. At this point, I tried to stay patient, but was very frustrated. Remember, my father in law passed away in March and this is four months later. Finally, we come to an agreement on the stone and that the cost would be $800. Laura, wanted us to pay the full amount, but told her we could not because you had broken our trust. Instead, we agreed to pay $400 with a balance of $400 when the stone arrived. We are now in November and my wife gets a call from Laura that it would be an extra $2000 for that stone. My wife, family members, and I are furious that she would say such a thing. We have paperwork to prove it. Reminder, my father in law passed away in March! Laura, tells us that this was not in the contract. Absolutely, insane! My wife tells Laura, ""This is not what you promised"". Laura, then says by the way you might not be able to get a refund because we never wrote a letter on cancellation and that it might of expired. Then Laura backtracks and insists we might receive the refund in 4-6 weeks. This is not a corporately owned business. I have a business of my own and it is simple to just write out a check especially what our family had to deal with!! I spoke with a manager, Bill, I believe, and told em he would issue the check in the amount of $400 ASAP. This is the first time, I have written a negative review on anyone or any business. What a terrible establishment this place is. I told my wife this morning, please do not bury me in this place. They have no sympathy whatsoever. All they care about is money, money, and more money!!!! Absolutely, horrendous and highly not recommended. more

Florida Memorial Gardens is a bad place 3/16/2012

My wife and I bought a plot at FMG in 1999. My wife died of cancer in 2012. Three days before she was to be interred, I was informed that the plot was double sold and that someone else was interred in the plot. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE CRIMINALLY INCOMPETENT. I wish I could give them less than 1 star. more

Lack of Dignity to grieving families 2/18/2012

My mother passed away Aug 2009. She was buried in one of the new back buildings. There are bronze vases facing the crypts for sale to the families, they are not very tasteful and take away from the appearance of the site. Instead we posted a few personal remembrances where we honored her there until 2011, & kept up the site. On Thanksgiving Day 2011, when her grands visited from PA we visited and found our personal property missing. FMG removed our personal property without notice causing much grief to family. Their response was dismissive & trivialized our loss. Surrounding this site were remembrances of other families that were not removed. This destroyed the beautiful place to honor her memory. Our belongings were never returned. No credible explanation was given for the removal of our property vs the property of all the other surrounding family crypts that remained. I am sure there are other burial sites in the area that will respect the deceased and family well past the date of internment. If I could remove my mother's remains I would. I would not recommend that anyone use Florida Memorial Garden's LACK OF DIGNITY TO GRIEVING FAMILIES. more

Terrible Experience 8/20/2010

My mother died in the middle of April and was buried at Florida Memorial Gardens. It is now the end of August and still she has no plaque, just a little sticker with her name. I have contacted these people numerous times by phone and email and we just get the runaround. They say things like ""We understand"" but clearly they don't understand at all. These plaques are quite expensive, and we paid in full the day we met with them. No one seems to know where her plaque is. Very upsetting experience. more
