I went to Floor N More in Lewisville, Tx the week of January 10, 2011 to inquire about purchasing laminate flooring for my house. In my discussions with the sales associate (her name was Cindy) I asked her about the price to have it installed. She told me it would be $3.89 a ft. I then proceeded to ask if there was tax on both the labor and material or just the material. She told me "There is no tax on anything because it's being installed". I was a little skeptical about this because I thought there would at least be tax on the material itself. I asked her a couple more times about the tax over the course of our discussions just to make sure I heard her right. Each time she reiterated that no tax would be placed on the sale. She came over to my house on Saturday January 15 to take measurements and give me a quote. We then came to an agreement for the total price of $2941.20. I asked her one more time if this was the total for everything, she then stated "yes it is". I told her I wanted to think about it and I would get back to her on Monday. On Monday I went up to her store and told her I wanted to go ahead and purchase it. She went over the entire sale with me to make sure we were on the same page, but when we got to the total she told me it was $3183.85. I said "Wait a second, we agreed that the total would be $2941.20". She said "My boss told me I had to charge tax on everything". At this point I was very irate and proceeded to leave when she stopped me and said "I'll go ahead and take the tax off the price". I agreed to go ahead with the sale at the time, but after thinking about it over the the next day I decided to opt out because of her dishonesty. She was trying to slide the new total by me hoping I would not catch it. To me this is a deceptive sales practice aimed at taking advantage of the customer. I believe this needs to be addressed with this company so it can be put to a end. I just want the public to know of this company's dishonest sales tactics.
