Flint Public Library

The Flint Public Library holds my childhood reading history in its stacks. My parents took us to this library every two weeks to keep our family in reading material. In times of no money, this library kept us entertained for just the cost of going there every two weeks. I still go to this library to browse its familiar stacks, whenever I can get to town...I know where to find what I am looking for here. The staff are friendly, the children's section is large, they have a relatively new Young Adult section that gets new books in regularly. This great large home to books old and new had much to offer a town that is so poor in many other ways...a true prize. more

The Flint Public Library is a large library with selections for everyone. The main branch is located downtown near the cultural center. What's nice is that the Flint Public Library has many computers that individuals can use. While there are many computers up for use, you have to log on using your identification number from your library card, and the time available to use the computers is limited. Once you run out of time (about an hour I believe), you are unable to log on again for 24 hours. While there are definite cons for those who need to use the computers for an extended period of time, it has its pros as well since it keeps computers available to everyone. It's a great place for kids...as there is a whole room dedicated to them with tons of books for all ages and many programs during the summer to encourage reading all year long. more
