Flint Community Schools offers education to students in grades kindergarten through 12 and has an enrollment of more than 19.000 students. It consists of more than 30 early childhood and adult education centers and elementary, middle and high schools. The various departments of the district include athletics and recreation, career and technical education, curriculum and instruction, maintenance and operations, research and evaluation, resource and information and special programs. It offers a research-based curriculum that includes English, mathematics, science, social studies, computers and physical education. It provides a variety of extracurricular activities to students, including debates, band, choir, theater arts, orchestra and speech. The services offered by the district include health assistance and transportation, child nutrition and individual counseling. The district organizes athletic tournaments and offers various sports activities, such as football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, tennis and track and field.
