Although my own case (Green card lottery winner) would be straightforward , the INS greatly complicated it by losing my fingerprints twice. If I did not go through a lawyer or went through a typical (disorganized and sloppy IMHO) lawyer, I would hardly finish my appication in time and lose that wonderful lottery gift.
From others' and my own experience, these people know what they do, do it efficiently, do not BS, do not hide from their clients, do not invent "unexpected extra charges", do not promise irresponsibly, keep their promises, do not mind being called with questions after your case is over. If you do not think this is a lot, you might try another law firm and you will learn...
Or you might try these guys and possibly stay with them for all your immigration issues, as we did.
They also work with companies on work-based GC applications, but friends'+my experience has been limited to private applications.
Pros: Professional, accessible, humane
