The Scene
With alternate Panini's locations now popping up around town like Tribbles, the original East Bank location remains the mother ship to the over-lubricated who are seeking the over-stuffed--that being those fat sandwiches stuffed with coleslaw and french fries. Unremarkable as a bar, the location thrives because of its front row seats in the heart of the turbulent East Bank. At closing time, the survivors pour out of the River Road meat malls for some fresh air, then bolt into Panini's for an ordering frenzy that resembles the running of the bulls. Find a gap at the horseshoe food island and do your best to make eye contact with a server.
The Prize
Once the hard-won grail's in your hands, find an empty space and stay clear of the action. As you can imagine, this punch palace is like feeding time on the Serengeti--only the animals are juiced.
