Dr. Flachs graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He began practice in the Kalamazoo area in 1983.
He was at the head of his class in clinical and scholastic honors. He was awarded the Louis c. Schultz Award in Operative Rehabilitation, the Max B. Winslow Award for Outstanding Proficiency in Periodontics, and the American Association of Endodontists Certificate of Merit. He was also chosen to be a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Scholastic Honorary Society while in dental school.
