My favorite place to dine & dash!

Worst

Made reservations for Anniversary fire and window side table, but we were ""put"" in the bar. Ordered the works (appetizers x2, bottle of wine, 2 entrees, 2 desserts $300), food ...

Great service, average food 4/12/2006

Although the food was unique and had good presentation, the flavors of the appetizers, meals, and yes even the mojitos were very muted. Loved the look and feel of the establishment and had great service. Would recommend you try it out and judge for yourself. Pros: Service, Look and Feel Cons: Taste more

A beautiful evening 9/21/2005

Met friends for a relaxing, casual evening and really enjoyed the dining experience at FiveSpice. It was our first visit and we dined on the outside balcony. We shared a variety of dishes - the BoLa Lot and Lamb Tikka Masala were a great start to the rest of the meal. The Grilled Beef Salad and the Chicken and Cabbage Salad were out of this world. The Shanghai Scallops were truly a delight! We finished the evening inside near the fireplace with the Chocolate Cake and the Tapioca and Fruit Parfait - good thing we were sharing. The topper of the evening was the three piece group that played and provided the perfect backdrop. more

Suprisingly Good 9/13/2005

My wife and I had dinner here last Thursday on recommendations from some friends. We were very impressed with the sheer beauty of the restaurant and the ambience. We sat in the bar area and were pleasantly surprised to have live jazz start halfway through the meal. The food was interesting and tasteful, service was solid, knowledgeable and well timed. Overall it was a great dining experience. Pros: Solid Service, Great View, Interesting Food Cons: Tough to find, Small restaurant, lighting(little dark) more

Soy sauce was the only flavor. 9/6/2005

Salt is the only flavor I was able to distinguish. Realizing that I would not be able to consume enough water after completing such a meal, I decided to ask for a to go box for the kung pao chicken. The second day was worse. Without a little vino the saltiness was utterly unbearable. I decided to call and ask if this was a mishap. The manager came on line and said, I dont want to tell you how Salt is the only flavor I was able to destiguish. to eat your food but, you should mix it with the rice. I thanked him for the education and wished him a nice day. Pros: Nice View, Good Parking, Great Bar Cons: Terrible Food, Terrible Management, Drink but don't eat. more

Happy Hour on the Patio 5/25/2005

Wow! Found a great new place to meet friends for afternoon drinks. Patio seating, above the street, looking out across the Lake! The drinks were great and the food was scrumptious! Great snacks to go with the drinks. The atmosphere was so relaxed we ended up staying twice as long as intended but also had twice as much fun! The price was fitting for the food, specialty drinks and environment. No more then I would expect to pay for such a great place! Pros: Patio, Drinks, Food more

COULDN'T Be Better 5/25/2005

I took my wife to dinner for her birthday, having made a reservation for a quiet table in advance. We were given one of the best seats in the house overlooking the lake. We were seated fairly promptly for a friday night, within 5 min of our reservation time. The food was fantastic, and our server went out of her way to make sure we had a great time. The manager even came over to make sure that everything was going well with our meal. My wife was very impressed and had a great birthday! Five Spice is the perfect place to celebrate special occasions. more

Perfect for business lunches 5/25/2005

We had a business lunch for 6 people, no reservation as it was last minute, and were still seated promptly in a quiet location towards the back of the restaurant. The service was still excellent and prompt, and the food was exceptional. Obviously alot of hard work by the chef went into this menu as we were more than pleased with all of our lunches. The value was great, no more expensive than any other business lunch in the area and in fact a bit lower than a few other places. We recommend this to other businesses now and will be visiting again ourselves. Pros: Location, Service, Food more

Great Lunch Spot 5/24/2005

I stopped in with a girlfriend while out shopping, and found the greatest lunch spot! The food was fantastic, the service was friendly and efficient, and the overall value great! Fresh salads, savory entrees, great wine selection. Five Spice has definitely been added to my list of favorite restaurants! Pros: Food, Service, Value more

Could be better 4/13/2005

My family and I made reservations for 6 1 week in advance for a birthday. When we arrived early (15 miutes) we were told there would be a short wait. Naturally, this was fine since we were the early ones. However, our wait turned out to be ridiculous. 4o minutes past our reserved time.. We were then sat in a loud, obnoxious location, where the door kept being opened (very cold outside). Our server lacked common menu knowledge, even become rude when we asked about sticky rice - a normal staple of thai (restaurant) cuisine. No wine knowledge, no request for assistance. Food was not bad, not worth the price. Food was hardly authentic. I would say that you are paying mostly for the status, location and ambience. Would never take my loved ones there again. Pros: Nice furniture Cons: Bad Service, So-So food, overpriced more

Mouthwatering by the water 3/3/2005

I always like restaurants on the water. It's always a nice surprise when the food matches the view. Even thinking about it, my mouth is watering again. The miso soup was awesome. Also had a great prawn/garlic/caramel sauce/noodle special that was delicious. Get the molten chocolate dessert--it is wicked. Pros: beautiful location, interesting menu, friendly more

Typical for LO - Overpriced 2/27/2005

Been for both lunch and dinner. I thought the salmon was overpriced at $14.50 for a small lunch portion but my partner had the clay pot pork and raved, so we went back for dinner. Clay pot for dinner was chicken and so spicy it overpowered the dish for both of us, and we like spice! The dessert we had was $1.50 more at dinner and the same size and no molten chocolate in the middle. Atmosphere is VERY nice though. I'd go back if the prices were more reasonable but seems like anything new in LO charges high prices. Pros: view, bar area, parking Cons: price, portion size more

You must try this spot! Divine flavors! 2/21/2005

I was visiting from Los Angeles, and was absolutely delighted to experience Five Spice. You must, must order the Seafood Curry ---it's the most amazing flavor!! Also loved the Hot Pot Chicken (with Vietnamese Carmel sauce..divine!). The ambiance is great -- we sat near the fire overlooking the lake. A great experience...and the most amazing flavors!! more
