I grew up in Columbia and I have spent many days and nights in Five Points. Has anyone else noticed how shabby it has become? There are plenty bars open at night but not much else. And why are there so many panhandlers there? It's nearly impossible to stop in Five Points without someone approaching you for a handout. The majority of them don't appear to be very needy, just greedy. And I was recently approached and the man asked for food money and he said "" just 5 or 10, whatever you can afford."" Not only do they ask, they up the ante. The Five Points Merchant Assoc. should take greater steps toward making Five Points a place to go after dark as well as during the day. SHABBY! Shameful!
Pros: It is a trendy, artsy, hippe area. ecclectic and unique
Cons: dirty, homeless beggars, shabby, not to much fun after dark except to the alcholics.
