5 Guys is one of those places that I only visit occasionally when I can afford a slightly higher-priced burger that comes in random foil all smushy. Haha.
Don't get me wrong, the burgers taste great. They're offered in two sizes, small and regular. The small burger is the size of a traditional burger. The regular burger comes with two patties and is pretty darn big. They come with your choice of toppings (you get somewhere between 10 and 15 choices of toppings), sloppily thrown into a bun, and wrapped in plain foil. You also have the option to get a cheeseburger or bacon cheeseburger in both sizes.
Fries are available in regular and cajun seasoning and in small, medium, and large if I remember correctly. The small fries are always enough for me as they come dumped in a cup, overflowing into the bag. The fries are cooked in peanut oil, so if you are allergic to peanuts then you should stay away from this place. They taste great and have a really nice consistency.
When you go to 5 Guys, everything you buy is separate. So if you want a burger, fries, and drink, you buy each separately. Thus, it is expensive. I usually only get a small burger and small fries. Always make sure you have a stack of napkins because you'll need them most likely for your burger and possibly for your fries.
5 Guys also offers hot dogs and a few other things I believe. Not quite sure as I've only had the burgers.
One convenient thing about this place is that you can call in or fax an order form in ahead of time and specify when you want to pick it up. I've done both and always had good results.
The 5 Guys in Blacksburg is located in a little shopping center that has horrible entrance ramps -- they're incredibly steep and almost always scrape the bottom of your car. So when you drive in, be sure to do it at an angle. Parking is good once you get there, though, and there's ample seating inside.
Overall I really like this place when I have money and am in the mood for a messy, juicy burger and a huge amount of fries.
