We drive from Lexington once a week to buy 3 days of fish, and soup. We wouldn't get fish anywhere else. It is the freshest we have found, and reasonable. The help are knowledgeable and friendly. The cooking smells are extremely seductive. Florence more

THE FISHMONGER is a small, well established, independently owned fish market located in an area of West Cambridge known as “Huron Village,” between Fresh Pond Parkway and Concord Avenue. In addition to a wide variety of fish and seafood, purchased daily, The Fishmonger is known for its creative, freshly prepared take-out items. The extensive line of carry-out cuisine includes over 15 soups & chowders; seafood salads; sauces & spreads; fish cakes & burgers; and special dishes for lunch and dinner. All take-out food is conveniently packaged for re-heating at home, usually in single portions but most special dishes can be ordered in larger sizes for dinner parties. The variety of fresh fish will vary from day to day, depending on availability, but is always the highest quality. In addition to the more common fish, such as cod, haddock, bluefish, sword and tuna, The ‘monger also carries seasonal specialties, like shad roe, live soft shell crabs, fresh Maine shrimp and Nantucket bay scallops. We drive from Lexington to Cambridge just to get the freshest fish possible. Fresh off the pier each day, it taste like it was just pulled from the water. There is a wide variety, which the cheerful help will cut for two. I always end up buying more that intended. more

The Fishmonger on Huron Avenue in Huron Village is great for fresh, high quality fish. Fishmonger is located next to Formaggio Kitchen and Hallie's Garden on Huron Avenue in Cambridge. Get there by taking the Huron Avenue bus (72?) from Harvard Square. My husband and I make our own smoked salmon, and we always buy our fish there. (It's fresh and well-prepped -- no pin bones.) They often have several prepared fish dishes on hand as well -- crab cakes, chowders, fish pates, etc. more
