Fishermen's Supply Christian Bookstore

I met my wife Barbara while attending Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. When we moved to Johnstown in the early fall of 1971, we had no intention of starting a Christian bookstore at that time. As other doors closed, we became more drawn to this idea. I had sold Bible books door-to-door for the Southwestern company the two previous summers, and had worked for six months at Christian Books in Annapolis, Maryland just prior to starting seminary. We started small, in a 12 x 14 foot back room of the house we were renting in Johnstown at the time. This was the period when the Jesus movement was just getting started. Things went slow at first, but rapidly accelerated when we made contact with a Christian bookstore in Nelliston which we knew nothing about. They were in the process of going out of business and helped us greatly. By the spring of 1973, our sales had increased enough that we felt it was time to make the move to our present location at 22 West Main Street in Johnstown..
