If they were a dog, they'd be a Labrador retriever! 5/3/2012

If these folks were of the canine persuasion, they'd clearly be the friendliest, most helpful and eager to please Labrador retriever on the planet. And nope, I don't work for them! This is my first year back in Utah after living in Arizona for 20+ years. I needed some serious updating on the local flyfishing scene, so I wouldn't look like some desert rat next time I throw bugs at the non-deserty fish up here. After reading some of the other reviews posted here I decided to give them a shot. Sam was awesome, and took all the time I needed to answer my questions, go over flies, locales, waters, etc, with a completely honest and friendly way about him. The dude even remembered my name after I'd introduced myself some 15 minutes earlier! Now THAT's the way to run a flyshop. more

Fish Tech Outfitters 3/13/2010

Took up Fly-fishing in August 2009, after a 15 year hiatis.\r I was introduced to Fish Tech Outfitters by my Brother-in-law.\r Enjoy going there and I have never been disappointed. Feel they carry everything I need. \r My only complaint is they are not open 24 hours a day, which would be great! \r Great staff ! Pros: Excellent Service, Great Products Cons: Not open 24 hours a day more

Excellent - as good as it gets. 7/17/2009

We usually come to Little Cottonwood Canyon in the winter to ski, but on our first visit in September made an on-the-spot decision to try the fly fishing here... only all our rods, reels, etc were still back east. Stopped by Fish Tech and found everything needed - completely equipped in short order and had a great time. Left the new gear in the closet in Utah so we'll be good to go whenever we come out. Great shop. more

Two thumbs way up! 9/15/2008

Great service, and a very friendly staff. The are very knowledgeable about all the products they carry and they will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. If I'm not tying my own flies I'm buying them from Fish Tech. Pros: Knowledgeable staff, Friendly Service more

Best Fly Shop in UT 9/28/2007

Having worked in a fly shop and guided in the NW for several years (Kaufmann's Streamborn) and been fly fishing for over 30 years, I have a pretty good feel for good and bad fly shops. Fish Tech may not be the biggest but it one of the best I've seen. Most importantly, the service is phenomenal. Can't buy that on the internet. more

THE Pro Shop in SLC 4/22/2007

I have been flyfishing for over 20 years, and Fish Tech is the place to go if you're looking for a pro shop in the Salt Lake area. Byron, the owner, is as knowledgeable an angler as you'll find anywhere, and invented such fly patterns as the ""Killer"" that can be found in about every still water fly fisherman's book of goodies. Great staff and products. Pros: Staffed by excellent people more

The old guys from anglers 4/19/2007

A lot of the old guys from the original Anglers Inn. A place to go if you want people who know what they are talking about. more

Great shop, personalized service 1/31/2007

These guys took the time to help me evaluate feathers for fly tying and get the best selection. They also jumped in and helped me with a warrenty replacement on some wadeing boots eventhough I did not purchase them at their store. The owner overheard my conversation, asked to see the boots, and minutes later handed a replacement pair to me! I'll shop here in a heartbeat any time! Pros: No pressure to buy. Great service more

Avoid like the Plague 1/18/2007

Horrible service, I went in looking to buy a new Fly Rod I guess I was invisible that day cause the guy pretended not to see me He never assisted me until I walked over and asked him. The guy seemed very arrogant and made me feel like I didn't belong in his store. Sorry I trouble him But I would stay clear away from this store I've had better service at the bigger retail chains. Just to let you know I droped $$$ on Sage Z axis & pontoon boat. Pros: Local Store Cons: Horrible Service Snobby Staff more
