Fish & Chips

I think this is the best place for a true fish fry, or brolied fish. It is like living in Buffalo, where you have a choice of places to go for fish. This fish is the best in orlando. I would and have recomended this place to anyone who I know would like a great fish dinner. The veggies are amoung the best and the way they cook them is perfect. I enjoy going there for fish as often as I can. Pros: great food Great people, great service more

I am a bona fide FOODIE who loves good seafood. And having lived in Orlando over 14 years (now in Jacksonville, FL), I can testify to the fact that this city has VERY FEW with good seafood. Surprising probalby for vistors who expect Florida to have nothing but great seafood. I have only been here once to date, but was very impressed with the Fried Flounder (very generous portion in a long time, perfectly done and nice thin layer of breading. The steak fries were very good. And the crab cake appetizer was extremely good with VERY little filler. Both were priced for a family on a budget. I only recommend places to family when I really enjoyed the visit. I found nothing of the attitude or marginal food one reviewer reported. Sounds like a person who could complain about fine chocolate............hmmmm. Pros: Above average overall - WELL above average for Orlando seafood Cons: Could be a bit more ambience, but that would likely affect the great prices more

I went to the Fish and Chips Restaurant on 436 (1146 West SR 436 Altamonte Springs, FL 32714)for the last time on 1/25/2008. I have been to this restaurant 3 times and each time they have shafted and or disparaged me. The first time I brought a coupon from online. They made a point of telling me after I was done that i wasn't welcome back for a month afterwards because i had used one of the coupons. The 2nd time I came back (6 weeks later) I brought a coupon again and they looked for ways to increase the bill because we were going to get a discount. We ordered a side of gravy-knowing that we would be charged for it. We didn't intend to order more but after it was gone they asked us ""would you like a refill."" We said yes and they brought extra gravy to us and then charged for four of them. On top of that they charged us tax on our bill TWICE. By the time this was done it would have actually been to our benefit not to use the coupon. (as it also added 18% guaranteed gratuity and at this point I would have left no tip) I went back for the final time today. I just can't seem to learn my lesson. Today we didn't even have a coupon with us. There were two of us and we requested separate checks. We had identical meals. It was 8.80 each. I gave them a debit card and my buddy gave them cash. The waiter told us that we would have to have a minimum of 10.00 on the card. So he charged my card 10.00 and still charged my buddy 8.80 (rather than 10.00 for my card and 7.60 to my buddy in cash). The restaurant overcharged us by 1.20 at this point. I left no tip and even wrote on the bill no tip. I mean if you have a lunch menu where all of the meals are 6.45 plus drink then you know that is going to come out to under $10. Make the minimum for the card 5.00 instead. This restaurant will nickel and dime you repeatedly. The floors were dirty and the bathrooms were dirty-and you know what they say about restaurants like that-their KITCHENS are dirty. STAY AWAY!!! Fish and Chips are NOT the speciality in this store. I've had better at Long John Silvers. Service is VERY slow and the female proprietor of this store is very RUDE! Make sure if you have any coupons to redeem, you let the owner know for she does not want to honor it. A best bet for fish and chips craving is St. Andrews right down the street or Cricketers Pub at Festival Bay. Pros: parking Cons: slow service, not a romantic ambience more
