You really haven't fully immersed yourself in a city until you've found a dry cleaner who charges a fair price and doesn't stick big safety pins into your fanciest togs, a corner bartender who pours a great gin and tonic then makes it just a little bit stronger than it absolutely needs to be, and an honest, reliable locksmith who will come out at a moment's notice and change all your locks or rescue you from the cold, mean streets.
Thanks to First Security & key Services, I can now check that last one off my list.
These guys are polite, prompt, professional, friendly, fast, and fairly priced, and I'll stop there because too much alliteration is just absolutely annoying. Due to an unfortunate misjudgment on my part, a wayward key necessitated that I change all the locks on my new apartment, which stinks because I just moved in and am pinching pennies. I searched Judy's Book and found First Security & Key Services. From the time I called to the time I signed the payment slip, I liked them. The locksmith was exactly on time, super nice, changed the locks quickly and without fuss and for a great price, and then--get this--took it upon himself to spend the rest of the billing hour sanding down the top of my back door to make it fit into the frame properly...for free! He could have just left early and enjoyed an extra cup of coffee or whatever, but instead he saw something that could be made better and pitched in with the whole 'responsible handyman' thing. Wow. I'm impressed.
