Editorial review from Citysearch 10/24/2014

These guys couldn't be LESS professional if they tried! I unfortunately trusted Larry and his pale-skinned-looked-like-he-just-got-out-of-prison sidekick to move two sofas and a dining room table and chairs from Raleigh to Wilson. They arrived late because their PRODUCE TRUCK (which I suspect was borrowed) broke down on the way to Wilson. I believe them about the trouble with the truck because their greasy handprints were left on the edges of the sofas, plus they lost one of the leaves to my dining room table! Plus, I looked in the back of their ""moving"" truck before the table and chairs were unloaded, and they had not even bothered to tie them down! They must have just shoved our furniture onto the truck and took off. Numerous calls to Larry went unanswered except for one where he promised to bring my table leaf to me at his expense. Of course he never showed. \r My husband was able to get the greasy handprints off the sofa upholstery, but my husband ended up having to replace the top of the new table with the top from our old dining table. WHAT A MESS! SO MUCH UNNECESSARY HARDSHIP WAS CAUSED BY THESE CLOWNS! If there was anything good to say about these guys, trust me, I would say it, but if you hire these guys you do so at your OWN RISK! I just cannot believe they are still in business! (Sorry I ""yelled"", but ""if I weren't a lady just what wouldn't I say to those varmits!"" Bottom line: STAY AWAY FROM THIS DISPICABLE COMPANY WITH\r THEIR SHADY, FLY-BY-NIGHT PRACTICES! more

Do not use. Damaged my ottoman. Stole cash (coin bucket) He would not respond to my calls to replace it even though i paid him extra for ""damage insurance"". 2 of his guys had haroine tracks on their arms. That didn't concern me at first - I'm all for second chances but when my change bucket with over $200 in quarters came up missing I am drawing a connection between the two. The men were too weak to carry furniture down the stairs and dropped and damaged my ottoman forcing me to step in and complete to move while one man sat/ watched and larry himself was on his cell phone. I told larry to get off his phone and hurry up and help me move since thats why I was paying him and he said ""what do you care how long it takes, you're not paying me by the hour"". Needless to say thats when the vibe between us went downhill. Note I moved 3 blocks down the street. Less than half a mile. It took nearly 8 hours ! \r \r DO NOT RECOMMEND - JUNKIE CON ARTISTS more

please research this company!!! We had almost all of our items ruined. Larry Hinnant the owner has been arrested for all kinds of things. Hopefully with God's grace he will finally be put behind bars. He has cheated so many and ruined stuff, steals, lies ect... We have been to Raleigh many times and the authorities are more than aware of what he does. It finally is catching up on him!! This happened to us almost 2 years ago and I will not give up until he is behind bars. I encourage all that have had similiar issues to report it and don't give up! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/15/2012

I agree with the review below that suggests Larry Hinnant writes the positive reviews because my experience was a nightmare and is spot on with the negative reviews. We had an out of town move back in July 2012 and the crew damaged more of our things than the cost of the move itself. He has promised on numerous occasions that he would reimburse only to never hear from him again. We were in route to our destination and almost there when we received a call that the driver had an absessed tooth and that they would have to switch crews. Bottom line we had to find a place to stay overnight, the truck arrived withOUT all of our belongings, they scatched our hardwwod floors so badly that we still have track marks where they moved the furniture in and the cost to repair is estimated between $1500-$2500 to repair.....that does not include the cost of other rips in leather furniture, etc. The real nightmare occurs when you try to get Larry to meet with you to discuss the claim and review the damages and stolen property. He talks a good game and sounds sincere but I can assure you the man is a con artist to the inth degree. We will be pursuing litigation but from the other reviews I see that wont be easy either. It just is not worth the headache and I would caution anyone from engaging in business with this man. more

So far so good 6/29/2012

My move was today and everything went AMAZING. Seriously... no idea what the complaints are about on this board... the crew who came out was fast, friendly, and super polite. They did MORE than we asked and didn't steal from us. more

If you value your possessions, avoid First Class Move!! 2/25/2012

I've never had dealings with a more CROOKED company. It's despicable that someone like Larry Hinnant can be allowed to continue operating his business with all of the people he has scammed and messed over. Check the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU website and read about First Class Move to see just how foul his dealings are! In my case, he damaged property and failed to make good on promises to reimburse me for the value. I've tried to have him served a court summons twice but he was ""out of town"" during the first attempt and conveniently no longer lived at the address he provided during the second attempt. After reading this review, the other negative reviews on City Search, and complaints on the Better Business website, anyone who chooses to do business with him is playing with fire. Consider yourself forewarned...I wish someone had done the same for me!! more

WORST MOVER IN NC-State Agencies Have Multiple Complaints 2/7/2012

DO NOT TRUST LARRY HINNANT OR HIS FIRM. He damaged furniture and personal property and still has not refunded us the agreed settlement amount after 4 months. We are taking him to court, as he took full replacement value insurance premiums and basically STOLE the money, as he has done NOTHING to ensure that our damages are fixed. He is shady, badmouthing his competition, however, the NC Interior agency that oversees movers in NC, has a large file on this man for all the complaints and problems he has caused consumers. He had the adacity to ask me to write him a good review after he failed to provide us with a receipt, any copies of paperwork or claim process. He is an outright thief and should be prosecuted. Check the BBB,as he has an F rating. Buyer beware, he is a lying cheat. All that you will get from First Class Move is a first class understanding of how to file against a firm in court. more

I had a great experience with them! 1/31/2012

You always have to wonder what you can rely on when it comes to reviews because the negative ones can seem much more convincing than the positive ones. In this case, I am glad that I did not read the reviews on City Search because that may have led me to not hire these guys. I decided to use Craig's List to advertise for the moving of my items from storage to another property. I'm not gonna lie - I got a LOT of offers, many of which I determined were too good to be true. (And you have to be careful these days) Mr. Hinnant e-mailed me a price quote which was in the middle of the price range of the offers that I had been given. What gave him the edge is that his website contains the NC Lic#, which I verified was legit at the North Carolina Utilities Commission's website (it is). This made me feel more comfortable than hiring Handy Randy to move my stuff. The men arrived on time and were very courteous. We had one snag early on -- I was given a quote for the move, but when the actual workload was evaluated, I was notified that the amount of stuff that I had to move would exceed a certain block of time. I was initially frustrated because I thought that the quote was firm (as I had requested in my ad), and I also didn't realize that when I stated that the move should not exceed more than four hours, that that was locking me into a four hour window for the price. Now, after reading all of this you may be wondering why they got a good review. Simply put, at the end of the day, I walked away extremely happy and satisfied, and I felt that the movers had truly earned every penny that they had been paid, including their tip. Even with the ""price adjustment"" (which in all fairness was not unreasonable - the storage unit was a 10' x 10' space that was jammed to the rafters, and the actual move, including transportation, took twice as long as I had anticipated; truthfully, I would have been really cruddy to have paid them anything less that what I did, because fair work deserves fair pay), the price was a great bargain and they friendly, professional, and efficient attitudes of the movers were really appreciated! Sometimes it seems to be really hard to find people to work for you who don't have stinky attitudes! So, the crux of all of this is: this was a good experience and I would use them again. To make the road even smoother, however, I will try to get an accurate price quote either by having a pre-move inspection, or by making some provision that would place a cap on a re-estimation quote if the move is significantly increased in time and complexity like this one was. So, at the end of the day, every single moving company/vendor/business is going to have good reviews and bad reviews. That's life. But for me, I'm just grateful that my experience turned out to be such a positive one for me. Hope you have the same good luck, too! Happy moving! more

Smooth Move! 1/17/2012

First Class Move made my out-of-state move go very smoothly from North Carolina to Florida!! They were able to pick up and load on one day, and deliver promptly the following morning. They gave me time to travel to my new location before delivery, with no charge for storage overnight. After further research, I also found their price to be the most reasonable compared to other moving companies in the area. I definitely would hire First Class again for any future long distance moves! - Sincerely, Happy Customer! more

DON'T DO IT! 12/13/2011

If I could give this guy a negative star I would. Please stay away from this company. The owner is a thief and will steal your money. I hired Larry Hinnant for a move from Raleigh, NC to Atlanta, GA. I paid him a deposit for his services. I should have known his price was too good to be true. On the day of my move he called me to tell me he had a problem with his trucks and couldn't do my move until the following day. I called him back to talk to him he DID NOT answer his phone, instead he text me and carried on a conversation I had to be out of my apartment that day. This happened 3 weeks ago and I have not talked to him on the phone since then. He does not return my phone calls and sends text messages to me sporadically to answer my questions. He claimed he mailed a check for my refund over a week ago but I have not received anything. I'm sure he is lying because that's just the type of liar and cheat he is. Please do not use this company. Look past those few good reviews and realize that this guy probably wrote them and posted to make his company look legitimate and clearly they are not. I paid this guy for his services and he has kept my money. I plan to do everything I can to get it back and to make sure he doesn't continue his shady business practices. UPDATE..... After weeks of trying to track this guy down I finally received a refund for my deposit. Be careful if you decide to hire this company. more

Getting better! 10/27/2011

I hired First Class Move and they were able to accommodate my time frame. The two guys showed up 15 minutes early, were very courteous, and got everything out the door fairly quick. They needed to bring a larger truck then they had but they were happy to make a quick second trip to get the rest of the items over. Their pricing is extremely fair and they drove very carefully as to not break any of my items. Everything showed up unharmed and in perfect working order. Thank you Larry, Jay and Mark for making that a very stress free move. more
