my experience 3/19/2012

I have bought 2 or three sets of tires. I got good tires at a reasonable price. No issues with them. The service has always been prompt and courteous. My only compliant is that they always try up sale you for other work... I leave that to my regular mechanic. more

Overpriced parts, Overpriced labor time - dont get burned 1/31/2012

My car failed emissions so it needed parts replaced, including - Oxygen sensor, front, and Mass Air flow sensor. Their price seemed a bit high, but being new to the area, I gave them a go....but boy I was wrong to do so. Only after paying them and doing some online searching, I realized that not only did they overprice their parts and labor, they actually outright lied about the parts they used. When I asked why parts were so much more expensive than the parts I found on internet, including Bosch products, Mike stated that they do not use Bosch-type products found on the internet because their quality is not as good as the original manufacturer-type parts they had in stock, and that it is hard to compete with wholesale internet prices so theirs is naturally higher. Well, I did some research here are details - - Oxygen sensor charged for $208.00 (detailed internet search revealed that the part they used was actually a Bosch part, with online cost of $54.88 on amazon) - Mass air flow sensor charged for $388.00 (exact same air flow online was $210.89 on ebay) - their labor charged close to 4 hours, when actuality was about 3 hours, resulting in extra >$100 charged With just these 2 parts, they charged close to $600.00 for what actually should have been close to $260.00. So, in summary, Pros - will find almost everything that is wrong with your car that can be replaced. Very fast service *(see below). Cons - Way Overpriced parts, overpriced labor. Dishonest about their ""superior"" quality of parts when asked upfront why they cost so much more than anywhere else. The reason they have such a quick service is because too many people already got ripped off. I should have listened to my gut feeling, but don't make the same mistake I did - when you see a restaurant, don't go to one that's empty. Unless you have extra cash lying around that you dont want, don't come here for major repairs. more

Happy Customers for Years 11/19/2011

We've been using this Firestone for almost 10 years now, and have always been very pleased with how professional and honest they've been with us. I really can't believe that so many people have had negative experiences, but I have to assume that most of the people who are happy just don't bother to write a review. In our 10 years experience with them, they have never tried to sell us something we didn't need, never been pushy, and they've always been able to fix whatever is wrong. We actually feel really lucky to have found a mechanic that we trust. more

Can't screw a lug nut, but can screw you! 1/23/2010

After multiple 'Fall-special' vehicular inspections to see what was wrong with my car, all I ended up with was a no-fault diagnosis, save for marginal corrosion on the battery, and a rusty radiator hose -- both non-critical issues. And then, I almost crashed my car the other day 'cause the lug nuts came flying off of the wheels! These guys cant replace the lug nuts properly after removing them for their oh-so-special inspections. Save your car, save yourself, and please please go elsewhere. Pros: Location Cons: well, they con you. period. more

Save yourself some money and trouble!!!!! 1/4/2009

I went here to redeem a free oil change coupon I got in a catalog we bought for a fundraiser. True to form, they called and told me there were about 6 things wrong with my car upon arrival. Among the problems were: and oil leak, contaminated brake fluid (I don't know much about cars but how does break fluid get contaminated) which, of course, calls for a full break flush, 1 low tire on the back, etc.\r Now, I replaced the low tire on the back and bought a second back tire because my mom always said that you never buy tires in less than twos. I also got the oil leak fixed because I was lead to believe it was serious. Here is the kicker-after paying $343.60 for what was supposed to be a free oil change, I got a flat tire on one of my front tires. I drove straight home from the business-my home is about 2 miles straight down N. Druid Hills Rd. The next morning one of my tires which was not new was flat. Now that raises some interesting questions: How do you catch a flat the next day after service? Why was it conveniently one that was not replaced? Did he really check all of my tires?\r \r Don't go here. They will look for stuff to drum up business. They supposedly specialize in tires but they know they make more money if they work your car over. This place is a rip-off. When I called and asked the moron mechanic if he noticed it was not a good tire he acted like it was perfect when he checked it the day before but he would be glad to take a look at it if I wanted to come back in-hahahaha. I went somewhere else!!! Pros: NOTHING Cons: STUPID, DISHONEST PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE more

Do not go here-If your problem is urgent, have your car towed to a better mechanic!!! 10/6/2008

This company has mechanics and salepeople who do not have the adequate knowledge necessary to do a good job. One of their other locations messed up a repair, and this location attempted to fix it. They did not repair the problem, and now I have to pay to take it to the dealership anyway. I should have just done this in the beginning. They actually tried to tell me I needed new spark plugs and the job would cost $185.00!! Ha! When I called them out, they blamed it on ""computer error."" What a joke! Now, the owner does not want to refund my money! They try to sell you parts you do not need. Perhaps, they should stick w/ the basics like tires and oil changes. If you have asignificant problem with your car, go somewhere else! Cons: EVERYTHING more

Dishonest and possibly malicious. 9/29/2007

I got a call from my girlfriend saying her '05 Mustang was making a terrible racket from the rear of the car when it was in motion. When I arrived, I didn't notice anything obvious and it was pretty much undriveable, so we called a tow truck and had it taken to the nearby North Druid Hills Firestone, where she normally got her oil changes, etc. They told us there would be a $100 charge for an engine diagnostic, which sounded unnecessary because it didn't sound engine related at all, but what do I know? Better safe than sorry, right? \r \r After we got home, we got a call from this Firestone saying two bolts in the drive shaft were broken and had to be redrilled and three flanges would need to be replaced. When we asked if this was a common thing to this car we got a reply of, ""I don't know, you're going to have to ask someone with more experience."" There's some confidence for you! We were also told it would be around $500 for labor and parts, and it would be a week or so before the parts would be in. Plus we needed 4 news tires and total for everything including the diagonostic would be well over $1000.\r \r This sounded kind of sketchy, so we called a friend of ours who is a mechanic (which we should have done the first time, but it was a considerable distance to our friend's garage). She said they could probably do it cheaper and quicker AND they would tow it for free.\r \r End result-The drive shaft was replaced UPSIDE DOWN by the Firestone mechanic, and none of the bolts or flanges were broken. The bolts were tightened and treated with loctite by the new mechanic. A call was made to the Ford dealer, and even if we needed parts they would have been available in the next two business days. We had the car back in our driveway in under 48 hours. Cost $250 for 4 new tires ONLY.\r \r Dishonest, inept and possible malicious because of the drive shaft. I am making a call to the manager today. \r \r DO NOT GO HERE! more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! 8/19/2007

Much like the other reviewer I went b/c my AC had gone out. I paid $400 for an engine diagnostic and an AC diagnostic. The only thing I ended up actually ""getting"" was new spark plugs and wires. They said that my AC compressor was out among other things and quoted me $2000. After reading these other reviews, by mistake by the way, i decided to go to the Meineke down the road on N Druid. Long story short. They told me my AC compressor was fine and the only thing wrong was a hole in one of the hoses, and they didn't charge me for a diagnostic. I saved over $1700. It makes me think Firestone didn't even do a diagnostic. I was fully prepared to go to the Firestone the morning I read the reviews. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, FIND ANYONE ELSE BUT THIS FIRESTONE ON N DRUID HILLS ROAD...THEY RIP YOU OFF!!!! more

Worst Automotive Shop 10/6/2006

I went for coolant pressure check. They checked and made a estimate of 1000$, that i would need water pump, hoses and all the other things replaced coz of coolant leak. To get a second opinion i went to Midas auto care and spend again 25 $ for coolant pressure check. they did the pressure and found everything is ok only your hoses are old thats why coolnt in the resrvior tank is not full. they made the estimate of 250$. To get the third opinion i went to ""Meineki"" at Glenwood rd in decatur. The shop has a ploatinum rating. The guy rocks. I told him that i filled the over flow reservoir tank full (which i told to Midas also) and now its half and i think there is coolant leak. He saw the reservior tank and showed me that actaully its not supposed to full . I lost coolant from the tank beacuse of overflow and that i filled it full which is not supposed to br full only till the mark shown on the resrvoir tank. He said if there is no leak from the bottom its ok no need to do anything. He didi n't even do the coolant pressure check . he said if its not leaking from bottom everyting is ok .I like the guys honesty.... So basiclaly i came from 1000$ to 250$ to 0 $.......\r IN SHORT.....\r Don't go to Firestone on N druid hills rd.... Go to any other store Midas, Mienke or even other firestone but not to this one........\r more
