Beware!! Unnecessary Work Being Done 12/6/2010

Having grown up around cars and working for my dad in his shop since I was a kid, I have some knowledge about mechanic work and with this knowledge I perform almost all prevenative maintenance on my truck and my wifes car. 1st offense-I took my wifes car in to get new tires (06 G6 GTP) and was told the oil looked "Dirty" and that they could change it for a fee. 2nd Offense-I took my truck in to get tires put on (96 K1500). I knew it was going to be interesting when the first thing they did was look under the hood(I went in for tires). Of course they came back with a laundry list of things that they found that "needed to be addressed". A fuel system flush, new serpintine belt, brake system flush, new air filter. BEWARE!! They will and do try to sell you alot of unnecessary work and charge you above average prices for it. With that said, the guy that put the tires on my truck did a good job and did quality work and their tire prices were one of the lowest in town which is why I gave 2 st more

Check for hidden fees 11/10/2010

Overall a typical auto repair chain. Costs are higher than advertised due to hidden charges for oil disposal and shop fees. They justify such charges as standard for the industry. more

Not good 1/3/2008

This is close to the mall, which was a plus. When I left there, my car was worse than when I came. They replaced a hose with another that wasn't made for that function. It collapsed causing the oil to leak out the head gasket. When I took it back, they replaced the head gasket, but didn't replace the problem hose. After several tries, and even a trip to St. Louis that took a case of oil up and back, I took my car to another repair shop that spotted the problem right off the bat. When I returned to Firestone, they denied they ever changed that hose. Will never return, and will always remember that experience. The car was ruined. more
