Best

I would rather go to Buffalo Wild Wings because it is cheaper, the sauces taste better, and they have boneless wings. This is a good place to get take out from and is worth going...

Worst

I was really excited about the opening of the new ""Fire on the Mountain"" on Burnside and 17th. I placed an order for takeout, and waited...and waited...and waited. And in the me...

Good wings but... 7/23/2009

I would rather go to Buffalo Wild Wings because it is cheaper, the sauces taste better, and they have boneless wings. This is a good place to get take out from and is worth going to at least once just to experience it. more

good, but not great 4/12/2009

first off, do not order the 'el jefe' sauce. i eat spicey food quite a lot, but this sauce is just extreme. i think it's mostly a gimick. Pros: wings are ok Cons: too expensive more

Don't go unless you are desperate 2/7/2009

I was very disappointed with this joint. The waitress was so rude when we ordered, I thought she was joking - when we asked what kind of beer they had she pointed to a sign and said read-it's right there. Pros: Windows with great view - so you can plan your escape route when your party is done Cons: Service and food more

Delicious veg options, easy on wallet 1/22/2009

Being vegetarian and having the occasional hot wing craving I usually don't have a place to ease my needs. However, their veg nuggets (Portland style wings) with Hot or Medium sauce was legendary! Each mouthful brought sweat beads and tingling sensation throughout my body. It was divine! The crispy texture of the nuggets and creamy blue cheese dressing was a perfect merriment. My non-veg head husband, had the blue cheese and bacon burger and cleaned his plate in just a few minutes. The sweet potato fries were better than Burgerville (can I say that?!). Sweet and salty friend goodness is always welcomed in my belly. We've gone back one more time since December. Yum. Pros: quality, price, options Cons: not in my neighborhood more

Like a Volcano exploded on my tongue...in good way! 1/20/2009

I tell ya what...47 states and 7 provinces of canada and these are the best wings I have ever came across. Pros: Good food, cool lil dive, witty staff, darn good chow. Cons: I can't eat there everyday. more

Good place, good wings, good beer 12/6/2008

Lots of sauce choices, chicken wings are good. Vege wings are good too. Chicken sandwiches good and juicy. Fries are awesome!! Lots of choices on sauce. Interstate location more homey and service was good. Pros: veggie wings! Fries!!!!!!! Cons: long wait sometimes at E. Burnside location more

good wings...clueless, apathetic staff.... 11/26/2008

I have been here enogh to know not to expect decent service...last time (which will be my last time), my order, after 35 minutes, was given to the wrong table (who gladly accepted it because it was twice the size of the order they paid for)...then after asking about it, they told me they would have to remake them...after another 25 minutes they brought my order short 12 wings...when I mentioned this (which I had to wait in line 15 minutes to do) I was told it would be another 20-25 minutes to get the rest of my order...I left...furious at the apathy more

both locations: friendly service, delicious food 5/30/2008

I don't eat wings too often, but when I do these are the only ones I eat. Perfectly cooked, nice and crispy, and tons of sauces to choose from. Personal favorite is the thai peanut, or whatever it's called. They also have veggie wings, granted it's just those gardenburger chik'n nuggets, but you still get to experience the delicious sauces. If you're looking for something healthy on the menu, though don't know why you'd go to a wing joint expecting healthy, they do have pretty good salads. I also love their sweet tea, good ol' porch sittin tea with tons of sugar. Highly recommend this place. Pros: delicious wings & tasty sweet tea Cons: parking can be tough at Interstate location more

Last Saturday I ate 25 wings 5/6/2008

My S.O. and I went over to FOTM to meet up with a friend. I have been going to FOTM for many years now and love their wings and especially their Spicy Peanut Sauce... I find it funny reading the message below that the person complained most of the food was unhealthy. Who goes to a wing joint and expects healthy food? What do you think they only serve poached chicken breast. Give me a break. I love wings and this place is the greatest wing joint in Portland!!! Pros: Great Wings, Great Sauce, Great Tots, Great Beers more

Interstate location: Poor service, Diappointing food.. 4/21/2008

Most of the food was very unhealthy. Deep fried twinkies or pickles, Chicken wings. I ordered the ""spicy peanut paste"" it's anything but spicy, it consisted of cold spaghetti noodles with some very bland peanut sauce. The help are impatient, rude, and loiter outside the restaurant on the curb smoking cigarette's... Might as well forget it if your vegetarian. Pros: won't make this mistake twice. Cons: Bad service, food, and parking... more

Slow Down and Enjoy 4/20/2008

Apparently, according to some of these reviews, sometimes it takes a long time to get your food at Fire on the Mountain. I have never had a problem but this shouldn't matter too much anyway. If you are starving and need to eat right this instance, go get some fast food or head to TGIFridays. Pros: Best wings ever, beer, fried Oreos, comfortable. Cons: Burnside location needs outside seating. more

Sad service. 4/20/2008

I went to the Burnside location, apparently they have become successful enough to begin branching out. I really would like to review the food there, but since I was unable to get served, I cannot. I came in on a fairly regular Sunday afternoon (Apr 29 about 1:00pm), not a big line and there were several tables open. I ordered a beer and a chicken sandwich. I did not think that was an especially difficult thing to make. I was mistaken. Pros: Beer Cons: Poor service more

Greatest Wings Ever! 3/28/2008

I moved to PDX from Texas 4 years ago and had nowhere to go for wings. When the Interstate location opened up, I thought I had found my final resting place (that has since moved to the Burnside location, because it will be easier for my friends to drag my body there). The enormous wings are cooked perfectly every time. The sauces are fantastic. I used to be a ""buffalo style"" purist, but the non traditional sauces here have converted me. I've eaten just about every wing in town, and nothing holds a candle. The only thing that would make FOTM better is if they were open when I get off of work (late nights). I think it's safe to say that I am a fan of wings, as I have one tattooed on my arm. Pros: Greatest wings ever, good local beers, fried pickles, awesome tots, nice peeps Cons: not open very late, I still can't walk there (FOTM on Division in '09?), can't always get ethiopian more

Ok wings 3/27/2008

We went to this restaurant because of all of the great reviews. My husband loves wings, he liked the many choices. Beware vegetarians: I went because they claimed to have vegetarian wings and I thought that would be great! They turned out to be store bought soy chicken nuggets, a brand most vegetarians will recognize. That was dissapointing, but the sauce was good. Ok food, but not worth the drive from Oregon City. Pros: Nice choice of sauces Cons: Not great vegetarian choices, sauce is poured on, not cooked in more

Far exceeded expectations! 3/15/2008

After moving to Oregon almost 9 years ago, I left behind me ( In AZ) one of the great wing places I had ever found. I had yet to find a place that could match or even come close here in Portland. My bother and I visited FOTM Burnside location a few nights ago. Let me tell you.....not only was I impressed but, they blew my favorite spot right out of the water. Yeah, you have to wait a bit...but it was soooo worth it. We got: Chipotle Bourben, Lime Cliantro, and Medium. Each flavor was unique and down right yummy. Glad we got that pitcher of beer to go with it....a little spicy too. I will definately be back and I've already told as many people I can to go there! My hat is off to you FOTM! You've made me a fan. Pros: Flavors & the fact that this is the ONLY good wing spot in PDX Cons: Not one thing!!! more

great wings 3/2/2008

We were ABSOLUTLY impressed. So much better than ""other popular wing places new to town"" (not that these could compair!) wings. the sauce had flavor and the wings were not dripping with grease. nice enviroment, service was great, and the food was excellent. The fries rocked! We will be back for sure with friends and family. Really not sure what other posters were talking about, but we had a great experience today. Pros: tasty wings, great fries. more

great wings! 2/28/2008

Went here for the first time last week, and ordered a dozen wings and a beer. went back again last night. i have tried a lot of wings in this town, and these are awesome. good size, great texture, perfect spicy-ness, great sauces and friendly atmosphere. they let you try all the sauces with celery at the counter, so you can find whatcha like. the jamaican flavor and medium were very good. prices are comparative to other wing places. not sure what others are talking about with service issues, but i went to the one on burnside, so maybe the service is better there. more

Don't go!!!!!!!!!!! 2/5/2008

The staff treated my girlfriend and I like we were bad people. I thought tipping 40% at the register was a good thing. They charge you when you order not after. I'm a bartender and I don't think I've ever treated people like I was treated here. By the way, you can spend 30 bucks on wings, fries, and drinks, but they still charge you a dollar for a very small ramekin of blue cheese or ranch. Yes, I was not given a sauce for the wings or fries. At least they are nice. If you do go, try the peanut sauce. It was tasty. The jefe sauce is hot and tasty. The buffalo lime cilantro=not tasty. more

Okay wings, terrible service 2/3/2008

I was really excited about the opening of the new ""Fire on the Mountain"" on Burnside and 17th. I placed an order for takeout, and waited...and waited...and waited. And in the meantime I watched the people in the working in the place bumbling and appearing clueless about how to make things run efficiently. The wings were...okay. But not worth the wait and terrible service. Pros: Okay wings, if you're desperate for them. Cons: Horrible service. more

Service is atrocious 12/18/2007

I went in on an early saturday afternoon for a quick wing fix. I've had the wings before and they have always been good. The problem with this place is the hippies that run it and their miserable service. The place was not busy and yet I waited at the register for eight minutes while the slothlike server washed dishes and did other general cleaning about five feet away. I attempted to make myself noticed with no success and watched as another customer who arrived after me left in disgust. In short I left feeling like an idiot for having bothered. Pros: good wings Cons: miserable service, grateful dead memorabilia more
