A Great Local Shop 5/22/2007

I purchased bettas from this shop several years ago and all are still doing great. Part of the reason for this is the advice the staff gave and all the questions they answered when I first got my bettas. The owner is a herpetologist and breeds his own leopard geckos. I have one and it was worth paying about $10 more to get him there than getting him at a large chain store because 1) his color is really beautiful 2) I know he was very well cared for. This is not usually the cheapest place, but it's often not much more expensive than the big stores. I would rather support someone local when possible and these guys have been in Knoxville for about 20 years. more

I have a bit of experience here. They have a nice variety of reptiles, and a very nice variety of geckos, as the owner himself breeds them. That said.....The prices on their bearded dragons, well we bought a baby there and it was $80. We later found out, that is twice the price that the critter barn charges for one that young. I do like looking back in their fish section, they have some huge tanks with huge fish in them just for viewing. You have to watch it , they will try and talk you into buying things that you really dont' need, and possibly aren't good for your reptiles, such as Calci - sand. more
