Love it! 1/26/2004

I came across Finn McCools driving up and down Main St. this past weekend and my boyfriend & I decided to check it out. I loved the atmosphere, its totaly a neighborhood pub. The service was great and the food was fantastic. My salmon with veggies was mouthwatering and my boyfriends bombay chicken was as delicious. Only traditional Irish pub in town 2/8/2003

This place is a traditional Irish pub with amazing traditional irish service. The staff is great and always keep me coming back. It is a bit spendy but the atmosphere is so worth it. Overall this place is a deffinate must if you havent been. plus it is big enough inside so that you don't have to herd around like cattle. Pros: Friendly, Great selection more

A Wee Piece of Ireland 11/9/2002

The pieces of Ireland behind the bar make the trip well worth ones while. There is nothing like being chatted up by bartenders with a cute accent while drinking a well mixed drink. The addition of Magner is the only thing lacking, but rumor has it it'll be there by Christmas! more

My home base. 11/7/2002

From the time I first got into Santa Monica, this has been my primary hangout. The Irish and English ales are served properly, the food ranges consistently from ""good"" to ""very good"", the bartenders will probably become your friends, and you'll find it hard to get off those plush barstools by the end of the evening. As a bonus (or perhaps a detriment, depending on what you're after) I've rarely found the place so busy I couldn't find a good spot at the bar. Come for beer, stay for fish & chips 9/11/2002

Finn McCool's has a great authentic pub atmosphere and a good selection of Irish and Scottish beers on tap. But I was surprised at how good the food was. The fish and chips were great. Tasted close to the ones I had in Ireland, and they were served in traditional newspaper with a great malt vinegar. The potato soup was also really tasty and perfectly seasoned. The bartender was tremendously friendly, also! As long as you miss the rowdies, it's a great place to hang out. more

Great Place 8/28/2002

Finn's is a great neighborhood bar. The food is authentic Irsh, and they have the best Harp on tap in the city. Unlike many LA bars, this is a place where you can hang out with friends without feeling like a bad scene out of the movie swingers. McCool happy hour, McLame clientele 8/10/2002

McCool's is the perfect place for an after-work drink - the happy hour is great for low-priced wings and calamari, although the drink specials could be a little more generous. Good Guiness for this side of the world (still bitter when compared to the creamy delight you find in bonny ol' Ireland). They did have dollar-off Foster's, which was nice. The atmosphere is a bit contrived, but good for a private conversation. The customers were the sort of characters you'd expect to see working at the DMV, however; dimwitted, bland and altogether forgettable.
