A GREAT Evening 4/14/2008

We hired Larry for my parents 50th wedding anniversary dinner and he and his food were wonderful. The food was perfectly prepared(we are foodies, we opted to have a catered dinner in instead of going to Chez Panisse), he was personable and funny and had just the right amount of interaction with us. I can't say enough about the quality of the food, everything was delicious and there was plenty of food left over! His service was prompt and professional. Thank you Larry, for making our evening memorable! more

Fine Touch Catering – Consumer Alert!!! 11/28/2007

Pls. be very cautious if you are thinking of hiring Larry Keck DBA Fine Touch Catering located in El Sobrante/Crockett. A judgment was awarded to my wife and I both in the Richmond Small Claims Court and Superior Court for serious service issues rendered during our wedding reception. We have not been paid a single penny to date. A bench warrant was also issued by the court and served by the Contra Costa Sheriff to Mr. Keck for failure to appear in court due to non-payment. This catering company also has records with the Better Business Bureau from other consumers. There was also a complaint filed against this company with the Department of Consumer Affairs. CAUTION: DO NOT HIRE THIS CATERER!!! 7/6/2007

One star would actually be a generous rating for this company. The owner Larry Keck, is the most unprofessional, disorganized, sloppy, and deceitful vendor I have ever dealt with. We hired him to cater an event and was that the biggest mistake we ever made! There were a number of unacceptable mishaps during our reception from a catering perspective. Just to name a few, he served entrées that looked and tasted far beneath what was presented to us during the taste test. The meals looked like TV dinners. To top it off, he did not have the adequate number of meals. His last minute "substitution" was a plate of bread and potatoes for the 2 guest tables that did not get their ordered food. His staff also failed to serve any coffee, water, or non-alcoholic drinks per contract. Some staff members had to leave the venue during the event to buy ingredients for punch as well as plastic cups. The glassware and flatware were filthy. Some of our guests complained that there were black remnants of some sort in the glasses. His staff left 1 1/2 hours early thus leaving us, the bride and groom along with some family and friends to clean up HIS belongings!! Mr. Keck was unable to be reached once he received his final payment 10 days before our wedding day. We find his service to be appalling, disgusting, and obviously humiliating. For someone who claims to be in this business for a "supposed" 30-something years, he has no clue what he's doing or how to manage his staff. I have filed complaints with the BBB for his unprofessional conduct as well as seeking legal action. more

There was a hearing scheduled this afternoon for Mr. Keck to appear in court since he has not made an attempt to make any payments per order of the court. He was a "no show". more

Fine Touch Catering - Beware! 7/2/2007

Please beware of this caterer. There are currently complaints against this business with the BBB and the DCA by ourselves and other consumers. Larry Keck DBA Fine Touch Catering was hired to cater our wedding reception. There were 10 issues. resulting in a breach of contract by Mr. Keck. First, there was an overpayment of $841.59 that we were never refunded, Second, there were 8 guests that did get served because Mr. Keck did not provide enough meals. Third, the food they served during the reception dinner was not even close to the quality of food provided to us during the food tasting. Fourth, the crew arrived 45 minutes late and Mr. Keck himself was 3 ½ hours late. Fifth, drinks were not served during the cocktail hour. Sixth, coffee was not served per contract agreement. Seventh, wine and champagne were not served during the best man/maid of honor toast. Eight, barware was not provided. Ninth, the staff left 3 hours early leaving no coverage. Finaly, neither Mr. Keck nor any of this staff was present at the end of the reception to clean up. We won a judtment against Mr. Keck in small claims court in January, 2007 for the amount of $1775.00 There has been no payment received to date. more

A Fine Caterer 5/22/2007

Larry did the catering at my wedding in January of 2006. He did an exceptional job on short notice (less than a week). The food was excellent and his wife Kathy did a phenomenal job on the cake. more

NOTHING FINE about Fine Touch Catering 7/31/2006

Fine Touch Catering does not even deserve half a star. I am a wedding coordinator and it is my duty to share this information with the public. The owner, Larry, is the most unprofessional and untalented caterer I have ever met - and what I mean by untalented is ... what caterer would serve canned corn with chopped green bell peppers at a wedding reception, especially when that was not even what the couple requested for the menu? He does not communicate with his staff, least of all show up to the event. He made one appearance at the wedding and was tactless enough to go up to the bride and groom, in front of all their guests, and see if everything was "ok", knowing that he had screwed things up. He was never seen after that. He left his catering managers there to deal with the event, who were just as incompetent and unprofessional as he. They ran out of food and were unable to serve one table, and then blamed the guests for "moving around" and "not being at their seats", thus being the reason they could not be served in time. When the cake was cut, they asked me if coffee service was to be included and I showed the catering manager the contract where it indeed said coffee service. He said, "ok" and walked away. No coffee was served to the guests. I could go on and on, but I won't. I was mortified and disgusted and will be sure to share this information about this caterer to every wedding and event coordinator in the Bay Area. more
