I was recommended to Dr. Iofin by another doctor who noticed something was wrong with my front tooth, which was yellowing. Years ago, I tried to have a root canal on my front tooth, which was damaged from a childhood accident. My first root canal was unsuccessful since the canal had calcified and the doctor was not able to go through the canal to clean out the bacteria that was causing my tooth to yellow. The tooth would continue to yellow over the years and could potentially cause severe pain over time. After this unsuccessful attempt, I went to a second doctor about a year later, who told me that there was no real issue today with the tooth given that I was not experiencing any pain and that I should come back in 10 years or more when it became an issue. When I was recommended to Dr. Iofin, I wasn't expecting much given my previous experiences, but I decided to give him a try since his office was down the hallway. Dr. Iofin took an x-ray of my tooth and over the next ten minutes, told me everything that was wrong with my tooth, how my tooth problem would evolve over time, and what my options were to prevent further damage. He said we needed to clean out the bacteria at the root but a complication was that my canal had calcified. He set out a plan for the procedure where he would first attempt the less risky plan to go through the canal with a microscopic tool in case there was an opening. He is able to do this as opposed to the other doctor because he has advanced technology. If he failed to go through the canal because it had completely closed up, then he would do microscopic surgery through the gum at my root, which was the riskier, but potentially only option. It was all up to me whether I wanted to go through with it and he did not push me at all. I decided to go through the procedure with Dr. Iofin about a week later and voila, he did the first plan where he was able to find the canal with a microscopic tool and cleaned my root out that way. I also want to mention that when performing the procedure, Dr. Iofin was very cautious, precise, and gentle. He appears to be very skilled at his work. I was very impressed. It had been a year since the procedure and my tooth has not yellowed any further! I highly recommend Dr. Iofin. In my experience, he is an excellent doctor.
