Visited there the first week of July. I would visit again during off-season. Pros: nice place to hang ou, tourisy, public transportation Cons: expensive, crowded, no real ohhs and ahhs more

Breath taking view of the city and lake. Lots of different dining to choose from - Bubba Gumps is my favorite. Great to do alone or with the family. Pick a night to stay for fireworks - they're wow. People watch or have a drink and listen to the entertainment. A must to bring visitors to. Pros: lots to do, great food, for everybody Cons: expensive parking more

The Navy Pier, the one attraction I always go back to. I have been to Chicago many times and I always make sure that I go to The Navy Pier. It has the most beautiful view of Chicago. The shopping is great for gifts and souveniors. Even if it is an awfully hot day, being on the water cools you of. And everytime I have been there, there has been a new attraction to see. Get on da wheel, do some ice skating, have a nice buffet lunch boat cruise or go for a dinner cruise. Stop by the children's museum for your kids. Take a nice walk and relax. There is some thing for every one. Pros: Lots of activities Cons: Expensive parking more

If you are interested in visiting the cheeisest place in the city, this is it. The only reason why I as a Chicagoan went there was the beer garden and a friend of mine worked at one of the bars there. Otherwise I would have never gone to this tourist trap. more

Navy Pier is a feast for the eyes, ears and taste buds. It's like a huge party all year long. The summer is the best. Yes, it's free, but you'll drop some serious money on parking, food and goodies. This is a must-see for all the tourists -- and it can be fun for true Chicagoans as well (but in limited doses). The boat tours are great -- we like the Duck cruises (more casual and fun than the others). But be prepared to spend a lot of cash at the Pier -- everything's expensive (from parking to snacks). You'd make yourself crazy if you habitually came to this crowded tourist attraction, but it's a fun place to bring people who have never before been to Chicago. There are arcade games and 3-D rides for kids and the ferris wheel worth checking out for the view. The free fireworks shows on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer are icing on the cake. My boyfriend and I just went to Chicago and did the ferris wheel at Navy Pier at night. It was kind of hard to see because the windows were foggy but it was a pretty view when you look out over the door of the car. It is a good place to cuddle and have a romantic kiss. more

We had hours and hours of fun here. There is always something to see or do here. This place is great for tourist type picture taking. It is full of scenic stop points. Adults and children alike can enjoy themselves here. It's a must see place to be. more

It's tourist-central here, with plenty of fast food and souvenirs. Highlights include the boat cruises and the merry-go-round. The Ferris wheel is too high for me, though my 4-year-old son loves it. Parking is available, but the rates are fairly ridiculous. Coming down here once a year or so is plenty. Pros: Variety of choices Cons: Everything's pricey more

Screaming kids and tourists 5/15/2002

I gotta tell you, I avoid this place like the plague. Too many cheesy trinket stores, candy shops, and a whole lot of other junk that only non-Chicagoans get into. The ferris wheel's worth a whirl, but aside from that, there's not much to recommend this place. more
