I took my Stihl yard trimmer to this guy because the throttle switch (trigger) was sticking. I expected a quick fix, since he advertises himself as a professional in servicing Stihl, Husqvarna, McCulloch brands. I also expected the total cost to be somewhere between $40 and $75, and certainly less than $100. I could buy a new Stihl trimmer for about $250, so it made sense to fix it. \r

I finally got it back 6 months later, and he charged me $174.35!!!! When I asked him why it cost this much to fix a throttle switch, he said ""it was a hell of a job,"" and that the throttle cable (the only part he replaced) cost $50. He had no explanation for the other $124.35, except that ""it was a hell of a job."" I checked online, and this part (with shipping) can be had by anyone for $18 plus shipping (another $10-12 to Alaska). I assume that as a dealer, he gets an even better price on parts than the average joe does. \r

It's hard to believe he's able to stay in business. I'll never go back in his store, and I'll do my utmost to spread the word that he's one of the worst kind of people in our country today, a dishonest scammer who gouges the people who are unfortunate enough to have brought him their business.
Pros: Fixed the item - for 4 times the price!
Cons: Shameless Gouging of Customers
