a little overpriced 10/21/2009

Service was good, and the atmosphere was very cosy. The food was delicious and creative, and they have a lot of seafood items. I had the duck, my friend had steak, and we shared a crabmeat cocktail appetizer--I can recommend the steak and crab! Next time I'll try more seafood since they seem to specialize in that. Entrees were very slightly overpriced. I love the BYOB, it really helps...it actually makes the restaurant very reasonable given the central location in Princeton, the atmosphere, and the food quality. Pros: BYOB, creative dishes, good location Cons: still overpriced more

QUALITY AND SERVICE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! 6/11/2008

I used to be a frequent customer of Ferry House. However, something has completely changed in the recent months that I am utterly angered and repulsed by the lack of proper service and the poor food quality. Most of the items were way below the standard expected at such a high priced restaurant. My main course was sloppily presented and the meat quality was extremely low. They may have well served me a plate of lard and topped it with tostitos salsa. I happen to frequent the Witherspoon Grill often as well and the difference between these two places is HUGE. Service and food at the Witherspoon Grill is impeccable. I am still in shock at the vast difference. At Ferry House, it seemed as if our waitress had somewhere else to be and was extremely rushed (presumably due to their obvious lack of staff which is not something to cut back on in a proper restaurant). I was not even given the opportunity to comment on my terrible meal as she did not even ask once how our meal was. The mushroom risotto good though I have had comparable risotto elsewhere so it is nothing to write home about. I would stay away from the calamaris. They were dry, hard, and tasted like dried up syrup on a piece of fried crust. I cannot even begin to express how much of a waste of your money and time going to this restaurant will be. It shouldn't be a problem to find a better place in Princeton anyway. There is no excuse for their lack of proper service and food. Management must really step up to the plate and fix these issues. I can tell you now they have lost regulars and I will never reccomend this place to anyone ever again. Cons: service, food, price not worth what you are getting more

Fantastic food, insulting reception 11/2/2005

Among the best food we've had in several years. Unfortunately, we were made to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes while other guests arrived/departed, even though we had made reservations in advance. Midway through our wait, a party of 4 arrived and informed the hostess that they did not have reservations. Hostess needed to check w/ other restaurant staff to determine if the party of 4 could be seated that night. Less than 5 minutes later, the party of 4, without any reservations at all, were seated and given menus. We were made to wait an additional 10 minutes before being escorted to our table. No apologies or explanations offered. Very insulting. Pros: Incredible food, Good ambiance Cons: Flippant reception more
