The tapas at Fernandos are great, we rarely get entrees because we eat so many of the tapas, they have a pretty good wine menu, the Azul is always great. The desserts are usually ...

Ole! 1/25/2003

Fernando's has wonderful Spanish tapas! Albeit it a bit more upscale than the authentic Castillian Tapas bars, it's a perfect restaurant for any occaision! Pros: Great Tapas, Superb Spanish Wines, Impecable Service Cons: N/A more

Festive 1/7/2003

I am not from the Portland area, but when I'm in town I make sure to stop in and enjoy the food and music. The ambience is great and the service is top notch. more

Baila! 12/27/2002

Wow, this place is HOT! Especially on Thursday nights...ladies, you'll get in free and gentlemen only have to lay down a five. The dance space is small...and not a great amount of ventilation, but the moves are sizzlin', even if you don't know salsa or merengue...you'll be entertained just sitting back and watching the skills of the pros. Good mix of Latin tunes, Latin moves, and diversity in patrons. Very worth a late Thursday night... Pros: good music, difference from norm, diversity of people Cons: small, hot more

Sexy little eatery 11/30/2002

Excellent service, outstanding food, and a very nice wine list. Truely a pleasent dining experience----Thanks Pete more

Best food in town! 11/28/2002

Definately one of the best restaurants in Portland. We had a great time sampling the huge assortment of Tapas. The waitstaff and bartender were extremely friendly. We were there on a Saturday night during peak business, yet everthing flowed flawlessly. These people know what great service and food are about! Pros: Inexpensive, Hot staff, great ambience more

The best place in Portland 11/25/2002

Fernando's Is one of the more fun places in town. Food is excellent, drinks are the best and music is fun. Fernando's open about 6 years ago and since then I'm there almost every weekend, Why? for many reasons: Friendly bartenders, waiter staff, security, owner, etc. They know how to make god drinks, food is tasty, delicious and I love to dance and is here where I can find the best females dancers in town...I can give 1000 reasons why I love this place. If you never had the opportunity to be there you need to go and after you will know what I'm talking about. See you there!!!! Pros: good food, good music, good attention more

What? This meatmarket? 11/17/2002

I was attracted to fernando's a few years back, great atmosphere and the music was good but I stopped after several go arounds with people grinding on the floor, dancing? Rather than an emphasis on having fun dancing it seemed to turn into this seedy stuffy wet walled crowded place with hormonal post pubescents drooling to the backdrop of some horrible transmogrification of music pumped at full blast. Even the music changed to something sucky. For dancing, La Rumba in the hotel across the river is better than this skankhole. I bet the restaurant is still good, the tapas are yummy, but the atmosphere of this place done turned me off. Pros: good restaurant Cons: awful nightspot more

Stop Hiding Fernando's! 11/14/2002

Fernando's Hideaway must be one of the best kept secrets in Portland. I certainly hadn't heard of it until recently. It's hidden within a block of the Willamette River in the commercial district of Portland. It has a great menu, a superb bar, and the only decent Salsa Dancing this side of Miami! Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Dancing Cons: Parking a little hard more

Fernando's Shouldn't Hideaway 11/13/2002

Fernando's was our first experience with Spanish food and it was an absolute delight! Now we take all of our friends and family there, especially for important ocassions. The food is great and the service is beyond excellent. If you want a fun, new experience, definitely try the Salsa lessons! Fernando's is AAA+++! more

Love it! 10/25/2002

Fernando's has a great romantic atmosphere! The food is delicious as are the desserts! more

I liked 10/18/2002

I went for lunch and it was good. Not the best but not bad. The food was good. A little overpriced. The service was good but not the best for a mostly empty restaurant. Try it at least once. more

GREAT nightspot 9/9/2002

We've always enjoyed to odd Thursday night - the Tapas are great! Margaritas (upstairs) are the best. Oh, and did I mention the dancing... more

Best bartenders in town 9/8/2002

Fernando's Hideaway, the best food and service in portland. By far the best place for salsa dancing as well. Pros: Food, Service, Salsa Dancing more

WOW!!! 8/20/2002

Love it. The owner/management team was great, and I always enjoy my visits. I've been to their special wine & tapas tastings with business and social guests. All have been amazed at the high level of quality food, service and great atmosphere. I have dropped by at least twice a week for the past several months. Never disappointed. They're even open for lunch now! Too bad they don't do delivery, yet. Two for one tapas on Mondays!!! Free Salsa lessons Thurs thru Saturday nights!!!! Fantastic wine list. I'm in heaven. Pros: food, wine, service Cons: parking, downtown, no breakfast more

All around - good 8/20/2002

Factor-in the ambiance and it's an all around good place. On food merit alone, it's okay. The tapas are hit and miss: shrimp in oil (very good), quiche like selection (average), potato salad (not so good). The Mojito (Caribbean drink, sugar cane, rum, mint) was one of the best I've had, and the portion was more than ample. The Orange Slices in honey dessert was a major disappointment. The server was overly friendly, which can sometimes be irritating. Pros: atmosphere, drinks, 50% of tapas Cons: 50% of tapas more

Hated it. 7/28/2002

The manager was rude, and I did not enjoy my visit. Because he was so rude, I would not go back nor recommend it to any one I like. more

Disappointed 5/15/2002

Went with a big group for tapas and was disappointed. The portions were tiny--even for tapas--and expensive compared to other, better tapas restaurants I've been to. Some of the dishes were pretty good, but nothing was great. Service was over-eager and the whole place has kind of a cheesy, unsophisticated feel to it. I wouldn't go back. Cons: too expensive more
