Overpriced, Terrible Service 3/15/2006

Been to Fenton's at least five times since it was rebuilt. Complete disappointment. Don't look for soda fountain nostalgia here. Overpriced menu, long waits, and terrible service. Not worth the trek to this establishment. Waitstaff and manager needs training - don't forget the order, don't avoid the customer, nor ask, ""What do you want me to do?"" unless it's accompanied with an apology. Banana splits -- bigger than your head! 11/10/2005

We stopped by with a friend on his birthday, and were amazed at how many ice cream fans were packing the place on a rainy Monday night. Then came the ice cream. An ""Average"" serving towers 10 inches above the table in a footed dish - the scoops are HUGE. They allow you to mix flavors in your serving, so definitely try more than one. A big man at the next table worked his way through the hugest banana split I have ever seen in my life. It is fun to see the looks on people's faces when their ice cream arrives - a mixture of shock and awe! The burgers and fries are standard soda counter fare, but filling and good. Creamy 3/11/2005

Avoid the mediocre food; instead, fill yourself up with decadent desserts. The ice cream here is absolutely excellent, and more desire-inspiring is the Cookies & Cream Milkshake. It's love. Cakes are also excellent. Pros: Ice Cream, Ice Cream, Ice Cream Cons: Food, Price more

Just Try It 7/7/2004

The new look is exactly that. New. If you're looking for the cozy feel of the old Fenton's, the trendier version will leave you wanting. Don't let that get in the way. Choose from a long list of flavors (don't worry if you don't see your favorite in the front case, they have them all in the freezer in the back). A single scoop, priced at $3, is a massive scoop of delicious icecream; more than enough to statify any craving. The custard base makes the icecream live up to the cream requirement. Fentons was,is, and always will be the benchmark ice cream parlor in the Bay Area.The place looks fantastic after the remodel, sure the prices are a little high, but the ice cream is the best there is.No gimmicks or funny business, just good old fashioned food and ice cream in a good old fashioned atmosphere. Worst ice cream ever tasted... 10/2/2003

Not sure about their food but their ice cream is the worst I've ever tasted. I ordered a pint of ice cream with Mocha Almond Fudge and Toasted Almond. The ice cream was only loosely filled the pint container...it was supposed to be weighed to a pint. I found the flavor was too sweet, very starchy and not creamy at all. My husband ordered the coconut pineapple flavor, it was so soft that it's like it would melt within a minute. They shouldn't even try to serve it at all. I recommend going to any supermarket to get your ice cream than going to Fenton. more
