Good food and fair prices, but management's poor attitude will prevent me from returning 12/28/2007

The food is generally good, the portions are generous, the prices are fair, but the management's attitude is poor. This past Wednesday, I was there for dinner with three other people; when the check came, I gave our server a coupon from their web site labelled ""Italian Restaurant Special - Receive 10% Off Your Next Meal?Use Our Fellini Cafe Coupon! Valid Monday?Thursday Only;"" our server returned telling me that the manager said that the coupon only applied to catering; I mentioned that the coupon made no reference to catering; she returned to the manager and had to argue extensively with them to get them to agree to let us have the discount as advertised. Apparently, false advertising is not a phrase in their management's vocabulary. My wife and I decided to go there due to its convenient location and hours despite the bad experience of our prior visit. On that prior visit in the summer of 2006, it was likely the hottest day of the summer and the restaurant's air conditioning was not working; we were repeatedly told that they were fixing it and that it should work soon; they offered little in the way of apology and offered nothing complimentary that might have made us feel that they cared about our comfort; if I had not been in a wheel chair at the time, we would have left without ordering. Pros: complimentary red wine, large portions, will make something not on the menu Cons: poor management attitude, poorly cooked eggplant, intolerance of sharing enormous portions more

Good food, and lots of it! 12/17/2007

If you're looking for Italian that's not too expensive, try this restaurant. I've eaten here several times and the food has always been delicious. They also give you tremendous portions, so consider splitting a dish with another person. Even two hungry adults could easily share. Service is generally good. The main drawback of Fellini Cafe is that there are some bad tables, including one practically *in* the doorway, where you get cold air blown on you every time someone comes in or out. Go at an off-peak time, or when making a reservation ask specifically for a table in the middle. Pros: Lots of good food, many menu items Cons: Some bad tables more

THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE HERE- OCT 13, 2007 10/17/2007

We had reservations for Felini on October 13th. We were placed at the worst table in the restaurant-in the way back, next to the service area. \r \r We placed our orders for appetizers and drinks at the same time and ordered drinks as well. The drinks took which took 10 minutes to get, despite the fact the 2 liter soda bottles were sitting within 4 feet of us in the service area. It was 30 minutes before our appetizers were brought out. I ordered the Calamari Fra Diavla and found a piece of plastic inside the calamari when I was chewing it. I brought this to the waiter's attention who apologized. The owner came over and apologized as well. \r \r Our entrees took another half hour to get out, totally 1 hour and 10 minutes between when we ordered and when the entrees arrived. I ordered Veal Picatta. The capers in the dish were obviously not rinsed off first as they made the dish extremely salty and the veal was tough. My friend?s soda was refilled with no ice so she got a soda that was warm from sitting in the bottle in the service area. \r \r When we received the bill, the only item comped on it was the calamari. Despite all that we had to deal with and did not get up and leave, I felt that the entire meal should have been comped.\r \r Eat McDonalds out of a trash can before you ever eat here.\r Cons: Plastic left in calamari which I almost swallowed, in attentive service, cramped quarters, poorly made food more

Authentic food in a great atmosphere 9/22/2006

This is my favorite place to eat on the Main Line. The food is very authentic and reminds me of the food I had in Italy. The ambience is fabulous, great for a date. The dining room is cramped, but this place is so quaint and old-world that it's easy to overlook, and it almost adds to the atmosphere. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Highly recommended! Pros: ambience, food more

1 Word: Fabulous 6/1/2006

This restaurant is absolutely FaBuLoUs. We sat at the very front table by the window, which is the best seat, since most of the other tables are closely spaced. The service was great: attentive waitress, very friendly and funny. The food was excellent and arrived at the perfect time. But, I have to say, that the one thing that made the entire experience truly wonderful was my date! more

family dining 5/8/2006

This is not top Italian cuisine, but it's very good and very well priced. While there are a few old time Italian American red sauce items to keep the Ragu' crowd happy, most items are closer to authentic Italian cooking. (Remember the film ""Big Night""?). When you consider that you can bring your own wine the place is perfect for family events or just a simple night when you need to get out. Start with the Calamari - my kids would not be without it. Pros: family, quality, price Cons: tight seating more

A wonderful experiance! 4/9/2006

I visited the Fellini's last night and cannot recommend it enough. We arrived before it got busy so we had a good seat. Our waiter was superb and the food was amazing. My boyfriend's parents were good friends with the original founder of Fellini's and he has raved about the food often. Everyone cannot help but stare at the beautiful (and huge) portions as they are brought to their neighbors' tables. While it is BYOB, our waiter was gracious enough to get us each a glass of wine and shots of sambuca with dessert (on the house). A picky eater myself, I was amazed to find my self shoveling down the mound of mussels presented to us as an appetizer, as well as the sausage and tomatoes in my pasta (three things I cannot eat anywhere else!). I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone not scared to bump elbows. Pros: huge portions, great service, wonderful food Cons: close quarters, BYOB, can become quite busy more

Fantastic food, awesome price, local feel 2/14/2006

Simply one of the best places to eat on the Main Line and perhaps in all of the Philadelphia area. The food is fresh and to die for, the portions huge, the price very good considering what you get. It's also BYOB so be sure to bring lots of wine. The waiters vary in quality, some are fantastic while others are average. Perhaps the most problematic issue with the restaurant is it's size. It's so popular that they fill up every night and it's somewhat cramped. Seats near the door are awful beause people are always standing right there waiting for seats, so avoid them like the plague. The size makes it feel local and authentic, and generally the other factors outweigh this issue. Pros: Food/Price, BYOB, Small, Nice Ambience Cons: Size more

Excellent Homemade Food 7/8/2005

Fresh ingredients, good recipes, and friendly service make this a great place to feast. The taste is truly Italian and is guaranteed to be delicious. Some of my favorites are the Frutti di Mare, Tortellini Pasticiati, and the Ravioli with Sausage. 5 out of 6 reviewers have echoed my sentiments. 5 out of 6 people can't be wrong. more

Great food 7/4/2005

I do not know what the last reviewer was talking about, maybe it was just an off night. This place is great. It's in a good location, and has a parking lot across the street (sometimes no spots). The food is excellent, and I thought the ambience was great. It had that little italian cafe feel to it. Yes it was small, but I think that is what gives it character. You also can not beat the prices. I definitely recommend it to couples or families for a nice relaxing dinner. Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Parking more

go somewhere else 4/6/2003

Decided to go here based on Citysearch reviews along with the recommendations of some close friends. Way off!! This place was a joke. Granted it was cheap, but you get what you pay for. The dining room was cramped to the point of feeling like canned sardines. Service was fair at best. The food - I never thought Olive Garden could be considered ""better"" than a non-chain Italian establishment. The folks who gave this place any better than a ""5"" were obviously medicated. I will NEVER go back. The owners should be ashamed. Pros: leaving Cons: food sucked, cramped more

Excellent pasta! 3/2/2003

I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood to just pig out on homeade pastas with fantastic sauces! I had the special--crab ravioli's with a light cream sauce topped with crabmeat and shrimp. It was excellent. I started out with a house salad. The portions are large and very satisfying. There is not much atmosphere but the food is worth it. Pros: huge portions, homeade pasta, friendly service Cons: cramped table space, parking more

yummmy fun 1/21/2003

I have been to Fellini's a few times, in small and large groups, and I have yet to be disappointed. The food is great, huge protions. The atmosphere is fun and loud. It isn't the best place for a romantic quiet date, but it is a great place for a fun satisfying meal. I recommend that everyone saves room for dessert. more

Wonderful!!! 7/30/2002

Fellini's is our favorite restaurant on the Main Line. It is not the place to go if you want a quite night out. However, it has some of the best Italian food I've had anywhere. Factor in the fact that the price of most entrees is $9-12 and you have a great value. The wait can sometimes be quite long and reservations are basically useless, but people who go to Fellini's generally understand this and the staff seems to do their best to accomodate everyone. Service is almost always great, with occassional (forgivable) excpetions. We've found that the best time to go to Fellini's is on weeknights, when there is almost never a wait. Crowds are largest on Fridays and Saturdays, so we rarely go on the weekends. Pros: great food, friendly staff, good servie Cons: crowds on weekends more

A diamond in the rough 7/25/2002

I've never had better lasagna than at Fellinis. I made sure to not get stuffed so I could bring the big portion home with me for later. Even when I had the leftovers I was begging for more. Haven't eaten other things there but they are always packed and they are a byo place. more
