My wife and I met Jonathan Faulkner in 2004. We had recently purchased a lot and wanted to build the kind of home we had long desired and dreamed about. Right away we knew Jon was the right architect for us. Not only were his ideas in line with our own thinking, but also we felt he was the sort of person we could work with productively. Both of these early impressions were confirmed as time went by.
We did not want a large house. Instead, we wanted a home in which all of the space would be used to meet our needs, but nothing more. In addition, we wanted our home to be functional, to bring the outdoors in as much as possible, and to have outstanding fit and finish features that would be both attractive and pleasing to our eyes. Jon knew all about the parameters which were important to us. He described these features as ""the not so big house"", and recommended a book by that name written by an architect in Minnesota, which we read and liked, further confirming our decision.
Jon was a pleasure to work with as we designed our home together. We tried a lot of things on for size, beginning with bubble drawings, followed by preliminary drawings that were changed a number of times until finally we arrived at a set of plans that we thought would give us the finished product we wanted. In this process, we felt like we were on a team with Jon, all of us working toward a goal, something we would all be proud of.
Once we got going with the builder, Jon was there to oversee many aspects of the work and assure the plans were followed. The final result was a wonderful home that thrilled us. Even now, over 5 years later, our home continues to be for us a beautiful, warm, hospitable and functional place that we love every bit as much as the day it was finished. Simply put, life is very good here.
My wife Lynn and I highly recommend Jon Faulkner to anyone wanting to build a home that fits their particular needs and specifications, the kind of home they may have long dreamed about, as we did ourselves.
