Father & Son Moving & Storage

Do not use this company. The workers stood around complaining most of the time. A job that should not have been more than 6 hours ended up being 13 hours because they refused to move - even after I complained after the 4th hour. After the 8th hour, they wanted to charge me close to double per hour. The job was supposed to cost $124 per hour for around 5 to 6 hours for a maximum of $744. They would not unload the truck of my possessions unless I paid them over $2,100. No banks are open at 11:30 pm, and I needed an additional $700 to pay them. Most ATMs don't even let you take out more than $500 in a 24 hour period. So, they didn't unload all my belongings. Next day I got the $700, but they said I need to pay an additional $1,300 instead of an additional $700. I definitely didn't have the $1,300. The following day, it became $3,600. So, they continue to hold my possessions hostage. Find another trustworthy mover that charges a fixed fee and save yourselves the headache of this company. more

I recently went through a nasty fast separation. I called Father and Son. Sandy came over looked at my 4 bedroom gave me a price and the next day 4 men showed up packed everything and I was out of the house in hours and into storage. Then 1 month later when I found my new house they came to the new house with all my property and unpacked everything and even put together our beds. These guys were great I felt safe taken care and a very lucky. Sandy told me not to worry she would have a good group of men take care of everything and she was 100% correct. Thank you Father and Son moving and Storage you saved our lives and my mind more

I used Father And Son moving and storage I booked in with them 2 days in advance. I had never used them before but I will use them any time I need them in the future. They showed up on time and they moved our things with no problem they price they gave me in advance was dead on. This was the first time I have had no problem with a more and it was with great relief the job was fast on time and clean GREAT COMPANY more

This is the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Everything that others have posted except Blackjack200 (whom I suspect works or owns the company) is true. They tripled my estimate. To move a small 1 bedroom apt into their storage facilities cost me $2,000 and I had everything packed for them. The only storage location they have is in Newark NJ by the airport but they told me that they had ohters in the Tri-State area. NOTHING THAT THEY TOLD ME WAS TRUE. When I tried to move my things out of storage I was informed that there was a $450 fee for them to move my things to a loading area at their warehouse if they did not move me to my new home. Basically holding my belongings hostage. more

I do not know what these other people went through. I used this organization to move into my new apartment back in August of 2009. They arrived on time to my house, all of my boxes were packed. They moved me out of my old place in less then 40 minutes. The quote that I was given by the woman was the same price that I payed when the move was done. They even put my air conditioner in the new apartment's window. The only problem I had was they did not completely put together my bed before the men left. I called the office in about a half an hour, another crew came to my house after leaving from another job and put my bed together. more

they are crooks, charged 3x more than quoted; destroyed my furniture; scammers - wanted me to sign all the paperwork 1st, and I did like an idiot. they held my stuff hostage until i paid them cash after they charged 3x as much. don't use them, I wish i rad these reviews 1st they are all right on with their descriptions. the state attorney general should shut them down!!!! If you want to get charged more than double than your original quota, have your furniture held hostage unless you pay the exuberant excess amount then use them. DISHONEST, RUDE, ETC. I am sorry i did not read the reviews on this site or other sites' reviews before i used them. SAL/JEANA were rude and despicable when questioned about being mislead about pricing. I had no choice but to pay the movers or else I would have no furniture. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM. BEWARE of their SCAM! all the reviews about them are all true. I am also perplexed how and why they are still in business. what they did was criminal. People need to know how dishonest they truly are. wish i could give a negative star like they deserve. more

Wish I had read the reviews first! This company is, indeed, awful. The men arrived with a 15 page contract to be executed before they started. When I refused to sign the delivery acknowledgement section (imagine that, I refused to acknowledge delivery before one box was loaded) we had to speak with the office...45 minutes of back and forth...we sent them out empty handed. I felt sorry for the moving team because they won't get paid for today. But maybe they should find an honest employer. more

I will NEVER use this company again ? I am telling all my friends, neighbors and associates about my awful experience and want to alert people I don?t know! This company is incompetent in every way ? from quoting; to loading; to delivering; to reassembling. I only wish I read these reviews prior to hiring Father & Son of Newark NJ / New York to move into a 5 room apt - 3 of which are bedrooms. Everything you read in the prior posts happened to me too!! The job cost more than double then the price quoted, my furniture was held hostage,,,,I helped load and had 3 more people come to assist with the unload!! Sal / Sandy are very personable and give you the distinct impression they are stand-up, honest folks - this couldn't be further from the truth!!! Sandy arrived with her arm in a sling - stating her adult son knocked her down - for all I know this is part of the scam. Damage - lots and lots of damage from my grandmother's table, to my mother's secretary, my grill - to a lamp!! The only things that weren't damage were the things I packed myself!!! The movers didn't have tools and I was charged the 1 hr it took me to locate the tools they needed!!! Pros: NONE!!! Cons: EVERYTHING!!!!!! more

My mother had this company move her yesterday. I had no idea who she hired she said she had used them before. Half way through the day I recieved a phone call from my Mom almost in tears that they would not take her furniture off the truck until she pay them for an additional 6 hours. They threatened to take her furniture to there warehouse. My mother not knowing any better and fully under distress went to the bank and paid them cash. They quickly removed the furniture damaged walls floors and the furniture. Left everything in the living room didnt even put it back in the rooms the were supposed to. So they now finished early and didnt refund any of the extra money. more

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. Upon arriving, they demanded that a portion of the money be paid, which was fine. Once they left and arrived at the home the furniture is going to, they demanded the rest BEFORE any of the furniture was moved out of their truck. Also fine. However, the rest of the money demanded, combined with what was already given, significantly differed from the quoted price. As a matter of fact, the final price more than DOUBLED! The movers refused to do anything until the money was paid and even threatened to take the furniture back to their warehouse. After sitting in their truck for two hours and a phone call to the police, we caved and gave them the money. Here are my issues with this: 1. The woman who came to the house to give the quote, after seeing what had to be moved, said that the quote would only differ by 'give or take a few'; it DOUBLED. 2. When trying to contact the company, they hung up on us and wouldn't take our calls. 3. The movers said they just started working for the company, the company said the movers had been working for them for years. 4. They moved one piece of furniture from a room and continued on to another room before finishing the room they started. 5. They taped drawers to dressers instead of removing them. 6. The company charged us for packing tape but used packing tape that we already had/owned. 7. If they charge on an hourly basis, how can they determine how much to charge until AFTER the job is completed?! 8. They began at 8 a.m., it is now 8:35 p.m. and they are not finished. They moved two bedroom sets and a kitchen set, not an entire house. 9. I want to warn future clients of this company with this story. In a time like the one we are going through, every cent counts. To be cheated and lied to for that much money just is not right. If we never see a refund, fine. But, I want people out there to know about what this company did. THE MOST INCOMPENT MOVING COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH!!! Would you pay $550 for a U-haul truck that rents for $30? We did because of Father & Son's Moving Company! They held our furniture hostage, said they could not get into the apartment complex and then charged us to pay for a U-haul truck. The drivers were RUDE as can be, and the company's staff and managers were ALOOF and RUDE! We had a contract with them and they BROKE IT! As a business, you should be shut down and licenses revoked! They promise door-to-door service and because THEY can't get to your door, they charge you extra fees to do so. They were completely incompetent and when you try to reach someone in the office everyone is out for the day. As a businessperson, you're supposed to honor the contract you write. Someone obviously forgot to tell them that. I'm complaining to the proper authorities so others can avoid the horror of working w/ Father & Son's moving. I would NEVER recommend them because of this. They pulled the oldest scam in moving history, and after we were FORCED to pay for the furniture, they took their sweet time unloading. Two guys came down with the furniture, and only one did any work. They took twice as long as they should have and barely did what they were required to do.
