Father and Son - be leary! In a recent move from Boston to Chicago, Cross Country Movers, contracted by Father and Son because they did not have the capacity to move me, charged me over $3000 from the in-person estimate I had. The driver wan't to double the $5700 estimate we had received - but, when weo bjected and called the main office for Father and Son and Cross County, they gave us a ""discount"" and only charged $3000 above the price estimate.\r

We had significant damage on many pieces of furniture and our mattress, which we paid to ""package"" had one piece of moving blanket surrounding it - the majority of the mattress completely exposed, as it sat in a warehous in Jersey City.\r

We have moved up and down the east coast on about six occassions, and have never had this experience or damage. Since the move, we have attempted to contact the company, the salesperson and customer service managers without success. They were so responsive when we were interested in getting an estimate from them.\r

This was a terrible experience - although wewanted to go with the local guy, rather than a large company, the service was horrible. The company touts its self as a family owned business - apparently this family has no integrity or ethic. The company was investigated by the MA Attorney General's office, and also by the FBI, since its work crosses state boundaries. After our experience - this investigation is no surprise. Martha Coakley can now add us to the list of dissatisfied customers.
