Fat Mac's Smokehouse has really good barbecue, along with excellent sides and desserts. The restaurant is in a building on Calder that has seen many reincarnations, but this time they got it right. Rustic picnic tables, big tubs of drinks, a screened porch and kids' corral make eating at Fat Mac's fun, and as their advertising says, "Dang, that's good barbecue." They have smoked brisket, pork loin, ribs, turkey and sausage, along with huge stuffed baked potatoes and sandwiches. Desserts like bourbon pecan pie and cobblers look delicious. They also have smoked salmon, boudin, and smoked ribeyes. Everything I've eaten there has tasted great, and I bought some of their sausage at Sam's Club.
