Extremely positive experience! 3/15/2011

My experience was very positive. People were exceedingly accomodating. I was given a gift bag when I had to wait for a scan. I felt the demeanor of everyone involved was very positive. more

Great Doctor and Good Clinic! Don't be Afraid! 2/20/2011

I have been a patient for two years at the Ironwood Cancer center in Gilbert. My Dr. is Luke Halbur, a gentle, listening doctor with great credentials and knowledge, willing to listen to my internet research (lol) and my ideas. The center itself is busy but I have never found it to be impersonal. The staff is caring and attentive - the nurses in the chemo room are fabulous. Contrary to other reviewers, the staff here work with me to determine costs, and have tried to help find ways to save me money. I am glad to be a survivor for so long - way over the odds! And I am glad to be at this center. Go with a doctor you trust, don't worry about other's disappointments. Cancer is a horrible, scary disease and unhappiness can blur our perceptions. Get well! more

Cancer clinic that cares about $ only 11/11/2010

I went to this clinic because my neighbot told me to go see an Oncologist there when I was first diagnosed with Cancer. This clinic cares about the financial aspect of your care only. They dont care about making you better, they dont take the time to spend with you and treat your illness. Its all about how many people they can get in and out and how many they can refer to chemo and radiation so that they can make the money, My wife found a better clinic up the road with much more experienced doctors who actually spend the time with the patient. Also, this clinic is starting to hire Nurse Practioners and Physician Assisants to care for thier Cancer patients so they can see more people. This is a very nasty way to do business in my opinion. I am happy where I am now and would never go back there again.\r \r \r P.S. In regard to the comment below: \r \r Hello, I am very glad you had a good experience at this clinic. I know that I did NOT. However I do want to send out a gentle reminder that the doctor that you mentioned in your review hasnt even worked for that clinic in a couple years. She left the team and is trying to be on her own now. I have heard nothing but negative comments on her so I am happy that you had a positive experience but she doesnt even work there anymore.........people should know that.\r \r more

Ironwood Cancer and Research is supportive and caring 10/30/2010

My experience with Ironwood Cancer and Research Center in Chandler AZ has always been very good, helpful, and productive. Of all of the hospitals, clinics, and doctors I have been forced to deal with in my 54 years the staff and physicians at this center have been the most supportive, honest, and caring. My first physician was Dr. Obenchain and I could not recommend a better Dr to ANYONE. Were it not for this wonderful woman, I would not be alive today. \r \r Thank you to all of you. more

IRONWOOD Cancer Center is VERY BAD 10/8/2010

This has to be the most unproffesional office I have even been to. I went to the facility in Mesa and was rudely greeted and told to fill out paperwork( which was ok ). I did as told then was called back about an hour LATER than my appointment time. The Medical assistant was HORRIBLE and The Dr. was just average. As My wife and I sat in the exam room, we heard the group of medical assistants laughing very loudly, being totally unprofessional and not taking care of people who were sitting in the waiting room. \r \r Since I heard such great things about the clinic I thought I might try the Chandler center instead and the Oncologist there was a bit better and seemed to know their stuff but I had the unfortunate run in with a Nurse Practioner and she was the icing on the cake for me. Younger woman , blonde hair who they use as a NP. She has NO clue what she's talking about and has no business being in the Oncology field at all. After we spoke to her I decided to just go to another clinic all together. I am happier now and they are very solid with my care. I just dont want people to waste their time here. more

Ironwood is horrible! 10/1/2010

These people are the most uncaring people in the medical industry! They tell you one thing and do another... They dont have a clue how to treat cancer patients or the familys involved. My animals get treated better by there vets! They all seem to have a different thing to say on the phone versus in person ... I agree with other posts here all they care about is money . People are just a number !!! PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE FOR ONCOLOGY! more

Ironwood Cancer & Research 8/20/2010

Ironwood Cancer & Reasearch\r \r This was the most trying time of my life. Ironwood helped me treat/face my disease head on. From the people who deal with the insurance to my doctors, nurses and front office staff I received the most excellent care. They even helped me get assistance from some of the patient assistance programs. Because I'm still working having my radiaiton/chemo/CT in one location was fabulous. Most importantly the nurses helped me face this disease head on. Let's face it ~ this is not the most enjoyable experience to go through for anyone. What a great place. more

Awesome Place 5/3/2010

While in remission, I was undergoing home/self administered treatment for hepatitis. After enduring 6 cycles of chemo for NHL, I was used to feeling bad, but not this lousy. The regimen played havoc with my blood chemistry and resulted in a call to get to the ER at Baywood immediatly. My Oncology/Hematology Dr. Musci, aware of the situation, intervened and proscribed the Hep Rx and other medications, that, in the end, all agreed would have been my death. Though, for a treatment not within their Protocol, Ironwood monitored me with weekly blood tests and 3x weekly hydration. The R/N's sent me to Baywoods out-patient infusion lab several times for hemoglobin or platelets. There were no more nearly uncontrolable nose bleeds or life-or-death trips to an ER. All the while my Hepatology guy seemed disinterested or something. I'm still in remission and testing negative for the hep. I know how fortunate I am, that maybe coincidence had a hand as well. But, whenever I expressed some measure of gratitude, their response has always been, ""Hey, it's our job. It's what we do!"" Pros: My MD and R/N's service beyond their protocol. Cons: Small inconviences associated with a busy place. more

WORST cancer treatment place to go!!!!!!!!!! 4/9/2010

This is the worst place to go if you have cancer and want a caring doctor. The support staff are all non-functional as well and I wouldnt want my worst enemy to go here. The medical assistants have such a high turn over and the support staff are rude and dont care at all. This whole place is all about the money and not about caring for patients with cancer. Dont waste your time even making an appt. Cons: East Valley more

Great Place 3/23/2009

Was a pleasure to make an appointment here. Much closer than going to Chandler and the staff was FANTASTIC. Appointment was on time and did not take long. Not sure what the negative comment was,,,but this is a CANCER center and not a primary care facility. I highly recommend this place. Pros: Utmost care and understanding Cons: none... more

They seemed to have no respect for my needs as a patient. 7/8/2008

I became responsible for a $1200 lab bill, when the doctor submitted the wrong diagnosis code to medicare. He said he would correct it, but never did, and I spent several frustrating months with unreturned phone calls, unanswered letters, and visits where they said they would correct it but did not. I finally transfered to another physician elsewhere, and stated that I was submitting a Better \r Business Bureau complaint. They called the next day, and fixed the problem in a few minutes. In addition, with a scary diagnosis, I probably spent 20 minutes with a physician, over the course of 3 visits, and had many unanswered questions. more

bad after hours support with ""MDs"" telling patients with bleeding ulcers to take Motrin for joint pain after chemo 2/8/2008

This is the worst facility in the Phoenix area. The doctors for the most part do not consult charts and never treat patients as individuals with other medical problems. High turnover of staff and overcrowding compound the problem, I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this facility. Pros: convenient to East Valley Cons: Too many patients and not enough doctors always in a hurry more
