Ironwood Cancer Center has been a great 4/10/2012

Ironwood Cancer Center has been a great place for me. I just see a hemotologist, and he is very nice. Appointments even with the doctor are on time, which I have never experienced in a doctor's office before. When the situation was dire and I first showed up, they saw me right away. The staff have been nice and respectful. When friends from Mesa learned I was going there, they said it had a great reputation. One woman's (she is a nurse herself) daughter-in-law dealt with breast cancer surgery there, and they were very happy during treatment and she is now a cancer survivor. I can't say enough good things about them. more

Truly professional and caring staff. I 4/5/2012

Coming from Minnesota it has been an 4/3/2012

Coming from Minnesota it has been an easy transition from the Mayo Clinic facility in Rochester, MN. I have been a patient at the Ironwood Cancer Center for 4 years and I am on a clinical trial for the breast cancer drug Herceptin. Mayo sends the drug while I am here for 4 months every winter and the doctor and nurses send my information back to my clinical trial coordinator. With their patient loads I have not been kept waiting and it has been a very pleasant experience for me. more

The Care and Treatment Were More Than I Expected 8/20/2011

When I was diagonsed with Stage IV colorectal cancer, I was devastated... total shock. As I'm sure you might imagine. At age 65, with a wife of 39 years, six children, and 26 grandchildren, and a competitive runner, cyclist, and triathlete, I still considered myself young and with a lot of life left. But when I got the news that the cancer had spread to my pelvis, both leg bones, lumph nodes, and my liver, and that I had only 6 to 12 months to live, it hit me like a ton of bricks. But more than that, my entire family was impacted in ways that is difficult to describe. Fortunately, my gastointerologist, Dr. Kumar, referred me to Ironwood Cancer and Research Center. There I met Dr. Ono and Dr. Nabong. These two doctors worked their hearts out helping me cope with my condition, and giving me the necessary treatment to extend my life. I went through six weeks of radiation, six weeks of chemotherapy, and six surgical procedures during a three week hospital stay, suring which nine inches of my colon and rectum were removed. When I went back for my second scan following surgery, the cancer was nowhere to be found. It clearly showed up on the original scans, but for this scan it was clean... gone. Dr. Nabong put me on 4 more months of intensive chemo to make sure any microscopic cancer cells that the camera (PET Scan) couldn't detect had been destroyed. I have to tell you that the treatment I got from Drs. Ono and Nabong, physician's assistant, Scott, the receptionists and all the nurses that served me was way more than I could have expected. The ""bedside manner"" especially from Dr. Nabong blew me away. Everyone at Ironwood clearly demonstrated that they authentically cared about me as a person, but Dr. Nabong went considerably out of his way to show that. These people... you might call them ""angels""... were put in my path to make it easier for me to get the physical, mental and emotional help I needed to get through this and give me more peace of mind, more comfort,, more hope, and an extension of time on this planet. They truly are not in their jobs or professions to treat cancer... they look at what they do as treating people who have cancer. BIG difference! I fully, completely, and confidentially recommend Ironwood Cancer and Research Center and the very competent staff for anyone who needs quality care and treatment. more

Amazing care 8/4/2011

I've only been there for hematology, but the staff is superb. And my doctor was voted one of the best hematologists in the Phoenix area by his peers. I've been impressed every step of the way. more

Incredible place of healing 7/18/2011

My experience with Ironwood Cancer Treatment and Research Center has been overwhelmingly positive. My treatment plan has been clear and executed efficiently. More importantly, I found a physician who is not only skilled but who treats me like I matter. He consistently addresses my laundry list of fears and complaints with compassion and validity. That physician is Dr. Eric Olyejar. As a nurse who has worked with physicians for almost 40 years, I am grateful for that rare combination of knowledge and humanity. He has earned my trust, respect and heartfelt thanks.\r more

Ironwood, the best place to go for cancer treatment 6/2/2011

I had a very good extensive battle with prostate cancer. The Doctors and staff at the Chandler facility made me feel like family. Everyone was very professional, supportive and concerned about my well-being. I would recommend Ironwood to anyone that has cancer. Ironwood made me more positive about my cancer battle and I WON thanks to Ironwood's technology and staff. more

Best place to go. 3/29/2011

We came down from Yuma to be at Ironwood. They did in 1 1/2 days what it took Yuma 2 weeks to do. We had our results and appt. quickly. Everyone was very polite and on the ball. We were able to get everything done in one day which was perfect because we were travelling so far. We had absolutely superb care. Katerina was the nurse practitioner and she was amazing. She was serious when she talked to us but she was very kind and helpful. We have never had a cancer diagnosis in the family until now and they really helped us through it.\r more

I am glad that I went there. 3/29/2011

Great! 3/29/2011

Dr. Chang is my doctor and all of my experiences have been great! When I had treatment, everyone was fantastic. The head nurse was exceptional. Even though I am now done with chemo, I check in with the nurses for a hug. I have never had a problem with anyone.\r more

Tells it like it is 3/24/2011

With Dr. Fastenburg, you always know where you stand in your treatment. This is not to say he is curt and unfeeling; to the contrary. I find Dr. Fastenburg to be very thoughful of how his treatment recommendations will affect his patient in their entirety. He understands how treatments affect the whole person, not just the body, and most importantly, he understands that his patients have brains.\r \r Personally, I feel that if there were not hope for my particular cancer, Dr. Fastenburg would let me know unequivocally, and not waste my time nor money, putting me through treatments that were not worth it.\r \r My life is in his hands, and I'm satisfied that I've made the right decision in my choice of medical oncologist. more

Everything is excellent from the front desk on. My experience has been phenomenal - it really has. I always feel relaxed and comfortable and the nurses are pretty, too, so it makes things even better. :) more

Great place 3/22/2011

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers is a great place to come to. I go to the Mesa office but I have friends that go to the other ones in Chandler and Gilbert and they all love it too. All the staff are great and very helpful. Everybody knows me here and calls me by my name. I never have to wait very long. I even drive 2 1/2 hours to get there and I don't regret it. more

Recommend to EVERYONE 3/22/2011

It will be one year this month that I have been at Ironwood. Through everything they have been the most caring, nicest, and always professional. I have not run across one single person that was rude or short tempered. They are wonderful and have become family. I will even miss them when I am done with treatment. This is the truth: they know what they are doing and really care. I have gotten the very best care I could have gotten. I have had friends that have gone other places and they have not been cared for they way that I have. They listen to you and they call you back right away. I have had both radiation and chemo here and everyone has been such a help. I would recommend Ironwood Cancer Centers to EVERYONE!! more

Fantastic place 3/22/2011

I have been coming to Ironwood for four years. I am very happy with my doctors: Dr. Bhalla, Dr. Nabong, and PA, Scott Lightfoot. It is very convenient to have all my scans done in the same place, too. The techs are so caring. The nurses are personable, pleasant and very professional. From the check-in gals to the ones that take your vitals - they are all just sweeties! Even the benefits people have been wonderful and easy to work with. Terrific! more

Outstanding Service 3/16/2011

A radiology tech provided outstanding service to my family - she made our first experience with cancer much better due to her incredible compassion and willingness to go above and beyond to help us. We would absolutely recommend Ironwood to everyone. Cancer isn't a good experience but they made it better. The staff at Ironwood were open and helpful and they really made it personal. more
