Family Therapy Center

My son has been seen by Dr. Lottie Walker for the past several years. She is very good with him and has always called me back whenever I had any questions. She is very attentive to my special needs child's needs and has called me back on her days off whenever I had an urgent circumstance arise. I appreciate any doctor who is willing to go the extra mile when it comes to a patients needs, especially on their days off. This speaks volumes of her personal care and level of professionalism. more

The Family Therapy Center is very nice. Almost 40 years old and have been going to psychiatrists for years. I've been around, too, so what I'm saying is I have experiences from different psychiatrists- in the military, Texas, North Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee. Anyway, I've been going there for between 4-5 years. My psychiatrist, I researched before even going. He's the best psychiatrist I've ever encountered, not to mention extremely professional and good-hearted. That doesn't mean he always says what I want to hear because that wouldn't be helpful, right? However, he (Dr. Glenn Yank), is extremely intelligent, Harvard Educated, worked at Vanderbilt, and knows psychiatry and pharmacology like the back of his hand. Put your trust in him if you need a psychiatrist. Anyone that can listen to me for 4-5 years and put up with my severe psychological issues and have my medicine so correct that I am extremely stable is a God send. Thank you to him for giving his life to helping others. I'm a social worker myself and could not handle other people's problems.....he knows what he's doing and has dedicated his life to helping others. I've been living in Columbia for 7 years and I'm not from Tennessee. The front desk staff is pretty good and the waiting room is nice, plenty of comfort and reading materials. Due to changes with insurance companies, doctors and counselors have to book everyone a certain amount of time apart from each other to pay the bills. The costs of being these professionals is unseen to many (that's a whole other story, look into it...). That being said, sometimes patients run over their allotted time and there is an extra wait. I'd rather have to wait a little longer and still be alive than go to an in-and-out place and not be taken good care of....I feel safe here. more

These people really should not be allowed to give any advise. I am very surprised that BBB has not closed this practice. I'm sure they received there degree from Toys-r-us. If your marriage is in trouble and you want to save it... dont go here!!!!!! more

I have been going to this Family Therapy Center for 3+yrs, and I will have to say the front desk staff lacks some professionalism, however, they aren't their to entertain you. If you are offended by the staffing at the front desk sit at the back read a book listen to your Ipod, they are not there to make your personal experience a pleasant one, you can't please everyone all the time, so should they try to please just you, they will offend someone else. Take heed and start listening in your THERAPY sessions its not all about you. Possible Narcissistic Personality Disorder going on with Ms. Amanda 1103 The Therapists and Psychiatric staff is phenomenal. To address the negativity, of your wait time, they are over booked and understaffed in both offices. The QUALITY of therapy I get is MORE THAN worth the wait time. AGAIN, it's not all about YOU, other people are there with issues that take a little longer than expected sometimes, most everyone understands that. I suggest MS Amanda 1103 go to Brentwood find you a personal Psychiatrist that charges 600-700 dollars an hour and you won't have to wait. Even the ones in Brentwood are over booked. Lots of people have problems, don't expect the office to come to a screeching halt just because you walk in and everyone should conform to your Narcissistic ways, obviously Therapy isn't working for you anyway if you have such a negative attitude. OVER PRICED???? That is awesome, obviously you have NEVER been to a Psychiatrist or a Therapist, or at least a decent one. That office is fantastic priced thus the wait time & services you get and you complain about. Go to Nashville, Brentwood, Hendersonville comparison shop & that complaining you are doing about The Family Therapy Center here in Columbia will stop in a heartbeat. LOL When you have two Harvard Grads Psychiatrist you are getting one hell of a deal lady. You obviously are new to the whole Therapy concept especially about price. To make you think. You make the experience by how your deal with it. You need therapy, all of your claims are unfounded and anyone that goes in there and has been for over a year or more will tell you the same thing I told you. Your new to this whole therapy surrounding. Not sure what you were expecting but from the sound of things you are not going to be satisfied unless someone pays 100% of their time to you and JUST you. THAT kind of therapy sweetheart cost the BIG DOLLARS. So for all our sakes PLEASE, don't go back and waste our time by making an appointment and then doing nothing but complaining about it. We like the environment, and we enjoy the staff and the Dr's and Therapist. By all means please do go somewhere else, we don't need you wasting our time more

I was very disappointed in the service I recieved. Ladies up front were very unfriendly, and like the other review, laughing and playing around the entire time I waited. Thay acted like I was stupid when I asked them to explain the insurance coverage again. Wait time was longer than what I expected as well. Over priced too! I strongly disagree with the above reviews. I have been seen there for about 3 years and have always been treated wonderfully. My doctor is smart and helpful and is always there when I need her. All of the therapist have always been super nice and I have never seen any flirting happen at all between the front office staff or any of the doctors or therapists. Those ladies they have that work in the office are sweet and caring as they can be, and I just appreciate there cheerfulness in a world of such sadness and depression. As of the comment about ""getting peoples money"", I have never received services ANYWHERE that things are free; whether it be a doctors office, grocery store, or a pharmacy. They explained to me that what I pay is my copay on my insurance or what my insurance does not pay, the benefits on my insurance plan is not there fault. People should get all of the information before they post negative comments about others. Pros: upbeat, friendly staff more

The staff is rude...and insensitive. Many people who are waiting for their appointments are hurting and the staff is cracking jokes and giggling...and always seem to be flirting with one of the doctors...even the therapists flirt.\r Very unprofessional.
