I am a summer resident of the Manchester area. The Family Inn is the closest place to my home for breakfast on the weekend, quick mid-week dinners, a few drinks and camaraderie.
Lately, the service has really suffered. On 2 occasions in the past 10 days, the food I ordered was delivered to another patron who ordered after I did. There doesn't seem to be any system for determining what plate needs to go where, at least when eating in the bar. This occurred at breakfast and dinner.
It appeared, the other night, that there was only one waitress for the entire bar and outdoor eating area. She was doing the best she could do under the circumstances. Some patrons were frustrated by the slow service and inability to get their bill, pay and leave.
The food is nothing fancy, just home cooking. Usually, the food is a bargain but lately, half the battle is getting your order in and getting the meal delivered to your table.
The Manchester Inn has always been a fun place to socialize and attracts all kinds of people. It has been around a long time; part of it's charm. There is a large river rock fireplace in the bar, a great view of downtown Seattle and Puget Sound and some decent bands on many weekend nights. It's a great place for a hamburger, a bowl of clams, deep-fried chicken wings, and prime rib on weekends. You'll get iceberg lettuce in your salad....not bad but as we all know it is totally devoid of nutritional value.
My hope for the Inn is that as the Manchester area matures and grows....and it is...the Inn will step up to the plate and be all it can be!
