Fallbrook is the northern-most city in San Diego County, California, bordering Riverside County and the city of Temecula, and is mainly known for its numerous avocado groves. It's mostly a sprawling, rural city, right off the I-15 Freeway, with a quaint downtown area about 20 minutes away from the rat race of the I-15. Nestled in one of the side streets of the old downtown is the Fallbrook Wellness Spa. Parking is scarce, but once you find your way in and are greeted by the intoxicating cacophony of massage oil aromas, you start to forget about your cares, and the stress starts to drain away. My wife and I used to come here every anniversary until we had our child a year ago. We would usually get the couple's massage. You're first given a robe and sandals, and then led to the changing rooms, which sport lockers, showers, bathroom, and a sauna. Soft, lilting, calming music plays in the background while you get into your robe. When you exit, you are escorted to a small, private tub room where you and your partner soak in an oversized tub of hot water for about 10-20 minutes. Then, there's a gentle knock on the door -- the signal to get back in your robe -- at which point you're then led to a room in the back where you both get onto massage tables, and await the best massage you've ever had. Of course, the 60 minutes ends too quickly so, one year, I decided to get a back massage from a different masseuse afterwards, which was a mistake. She had clammy hands and wanted to talk the whole time. I should have spoken up, but I didn't; I just gave her a slightly smaller tip than I gave the other masseuses. If it ever happens again, I think I will say something. You're supposed to be relaxed after a massage, not tense, right? Anyway, the place is too beautiful for me to stay away very long. With the deals that SpaFinder runs on their certificates, I expect to be back soon. Looking forward to it...
