The one, the only place you can get a kickin' Banana Milkshake. Falfels are great and gyros too... but the Banana Milkshake is crazy good. Only think missing is a hummus plate -...

After hearing great things about the legendary Falafel Drive-In, I was excited to finally try it and see for myself what all the fuss was about. I was a little worried about parki...

TASTY MIDDLEASTERN FOOD 4/12/2006

THIS IS KIND OF LIKE DRIVE IN PLACE. THEY GOT VERY GOOD FOOOD AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE. THEIR FALAFELS ARE THE BEDT IN SANJOSE. KIND OF NASTY PLACE. NOT A FANCY PLACE TO PARK AND EAT COMFORTABLY. BUT IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PTHER THINGS EXCEPT THE FOOD THEN THIS IS PERFECT. BE CARE FUL BUT SOMETIMES THEY CHARGE EXTRA. more

Perfect for any occasion 4/9/2006

Be it weding reception or romantic dinner, Falafel Drive-in fits perfectly... Aaah, who am I kidding? The place is a little hole in a wall, and not a drive-in to begin with, as it's quite hard to drive in with only 4 parking spots available and limited street parking. Nevertheless, the lines are always there during lunch time for the $6.50 large falafel and banana shake special. The falafels are tasty and plentisome, they're kinda messy to eat on the spot or in the car, but make a perfect lunch at home or at work. There are a few picnic tables with tents over them to cover people in case of rain. The food preparation process is quite fast, and generally one doesn't have to wait a whole lot to get their food. Each to-go serving comes with extra red sauce. Definitely a must-try if you happen to drive near Stevens Creek Blvd. more

Casual greek food 8/18/2005

I have been going to this restaurant on Stevens Creek Blvd for more than 16 years. It is a very casual place. It is called a drive in but it is not. They have picnic tables outside the restaurant so you can eat there. There constant special is the vegetarian falafel and banana shake. I always get this special. I have taken every visitor and business colleague to this place. more

AMAZING Food 8/10/2005

This place has not lost it's touch in the 10 years I have been here. There is only eat-outside on benches... but on a rainy day they do have the area covered patio-like. The food is absolutely affordable (it's a pick-up type place) The food is absolutely DIVINE! If you like Falafels and fries and hummus... this is the place to go. If this is your first time trying it, this is the place to try it... not at some mall. more

i've already reviewed this, but i'm recommending it as an answer to a question. 8/9/2005

is this a bug in the system? why is it that when i want to answer someone's question, i must write a new review for the place. i already submitted this joint as an answer to the question of where to get good falafel's in the south bay. now, i'm saying it's a good vegetarian fast food joint in the south bay. it is. other than falafel drive-in, where else can you get good veggie fast food? well, at various indian chaat houses. try those too. anyway, year after year after year, san joséans vote falafel drive-in as the betst falafel in the area in readers' polls in all sorts of publications. yes, falafel drive-in provides good falafels although without any cultural atmosphere. well, let me rephrase that! you don't get any middle eastern / persian cultural experience, no. you _do_ however get to experience san joséan culture. this place has become an integral part of the whole san josé culture! as i said in my _first_ review of this place here, i _have_ had better falafels, but not necessarily in the _south_ bay, only in the east bay at a now extinct place called beirut and at eat-a-pita and to a lesser extent at bongo burger. ok, so that's a good place for falafels. now what about vegetarian food in general??? well, up in berkeley, there's smart alec's that specializes in vegetarian burgers, but they sure don't have a location down here in the silicon valley, which is america's _real_ heartland (i hope you know by now). thus where else can i find good vegetarian fast food??? well, here's a suggestion that _isn't_ fast food (and isn't indian chaat): pizz'a chicago on halford n' el camino real in santa clara. they have awesome veggetarian pizzas. where else? well, great vegi land is a chinese restaurant in sunnyvale that's totally vegetarian, but it's not fast food, n' it's a little overpriced. how about trying whole foods' deli? they have a location in campbell on bascom and hamilton and another in cupertino on stevens creek boulevard near de anza college and another in los gatos. anyway, falafel's drive in... yes... that's what _this_ review is about.... i don't undertand the bug in this system. more

year after year, san josé's favourite... but i've had better. 8/7/2005

in the silicon valley, which is america's _real_ heartland, the best falafels i've found are at the valley's longtime favourite, year after year after year: falafale's drive-in. sure, it's not the most authentic persian experience, nor is it got much atmospher other than being rather kitschy. it's a cheap place for a quick bite, people would agree. back in berkeley, i had the best falafels and middle eastern food at a joint called beirut operated by two brothers. unfortunately, when one went through a messy divorce, they place got sold to a nice southeast asian family, which did run it well for a while before it went under after a little while. that was an awesome falafel joint and had good kebab-type sandwiches. now, if you were to ask me for the best falafels in the entire bay area, i'd recommend eat-a-pita, also in berkeley. bongo burger up there is also good, but eat-a-pita is better and was even paradied in the great simpsons animated tv show. anyway, down in the silly valley, i stick to falafel drive-in. filfela on el camino real opened in my neighbourhood, but i find it to be not worth the extra price over falafel drive-in. there's a very cute website at http://www.falafeldog.com by the way. more

The best place for falafels 8/5/2005

What a real falafel should taste like! Plenty of flavor. Try their fresh banana shake too. And don't let the long lines deter you. They've been serving at the same location for so long they have it down to a science. Faster than most fast food places and the long lines just mean a lot of people know the best place to eat falafels! more
