Best

They take good care of the birds...Have a lot of yummy healthy treats for doggos and cats...Very nice employees... cozy and welcoming store. 100% recommended!

Worst

Just a standard source for low-quality pups from puppymills and backyard breeders. Ask to see the receipts from where they got the pups, they probably bought them in mixed lots f...

Fairwood Pet Center 9/23/2007

Shopping adventures at Fairwood Pet store turn out to be negative experiences. The sales staff get a D- when it comes to customer service. I find it to be difficult to get information about products. They are either too busy socializing or missing in action. On two separate occasions in the middle of the day I waited over 15 minutes to get a sales person to ring up my items so I could leave the store. When it happened the third I left the store with no plans to come back. The third and final occasion I waited for service I had an experience that I will not likely forget. I have never before written a complaint about a company or store. I am also not a big time animal rights activist. This just needs to be passed on for someone else to ponder. I waited in front of the cash registrar for any sales person to ring up my purchase. The sales woman returned with a customer and a small black terrier puppy. The sales girl decided to ring up the woman with the new puppy first. As the puppy purchaser walked away she stopped and looked back at the sales girl. Grimacing she asked "Is this puppy going to be a barker?" " I don't want a dog that is going to start barking every time someone walks past my house." The sales girl ringing up my purchase smiled and answered back "Oh no." That kind of dog really doesn't bark." The sales girl continues by giving this award winning training advice, "When ever it starts to bark hit it on the nose with a newspaper." "That's what most people do with puppies." The puppy purchaser thanks her and leaves the store. I couldn't believe what I had heard. I immediately left the store with out my purchase. A terrier not barking??? Just hit it on the nose? Responsibility Anyone? The least she could have done was point to a training book, a training video or a trainer's card! Let alone screen a person before giving them a naturally barking animal to care for! This is a big part of the reason people abandon their pets or can't figure out why it bit the neighbor kid! Come on! These poor animals stand on metal fencing all day and night. Fairwood pet store doesn't even bother to put a piece of cardboard underneath them for comfort. I have no plans to shop there again. Don't purchase the puppies to save them. Put them out of the puppy business. Visit the pound or call a breeder! more

Convenient but way too expensive! 12/30/2005

I’ve been going to Fairwood pet center since I was a kid, they have a good selection of purebred dogs, kittens and fish but they are extremely expensive! The staff has always been extremely helpful to us, but in comparison their prices are much higher than a Petsmart or a Petco. However, you can use many cat/dog food coupons there that you may not be able to use at Petsmart or Petco. They’re great for a quick “oh no, we just ran out of cat food and I don’t want to drive all the way to the mall” run, but other than that they’re just too pricey. more

Items for animals 10/29/2005

This store is located in the Fairwood shopping plaza. They charge about the same price as any other local pet shop for food, animal toys, etc. Fairwood Pet Center offers grooming services for your dog and also has animals for sale. The one drawback here is that they never seem to have the items I buy. Otherwise this is a very customer (human and animal) place and is convenient for those who live in Fairwood. more

Fun Pet Store 7/29/2005

Fairwood Pet Center is a fun place to shop for your pets. It can be a little pricy, but that's what you expect from a small business. They do have some pets to purchase, though not as many as you might find at the Humane Society or even at Pet Co. The kids love to visit here and look at all the animals and other pet accessories. more
