I had been a repeat customer and always, always paid my bill in full right then. I like Dr. Hart. The other docs are nice as well. However, I recently had to take my large breed in as I'd lost a dog in the past with bloat (an urgent situation or it's life threatening, an xray is needed immediately). I took him in to get checked as he was very symptomatic and not feeling well at all. I was in a very upset state of mind. I didn't want my dog to die and i was prepared to sell my car if I had to , to pay for a 3,000 dollar bloat surgery if need be. Anything, to save my pet. Anyway I went in and the doc and techs were great. But, unfortunately when I went to check out, ... things changed. \r

I was strapped for cash and asked for payments and they said no. I was then kept at the front desk standing there with my dog, while the office manager grilled me for 30 minutes and made me feel bad about myself. She actually said to me, ""So you knew you had little or no money when you brought your dog in? That should have been disclosed when you walked in the door."" Excuse me..but I am a repeat client who has always paid on the spot and I was scared to death my dog was bloating. I didn't have time to stop and ask about finances when I knew my dog needed an xray immediately. (Luckily, he did not have bloat). Her entire tone, and demeanor was worse than a debt collector. She then insisted I apply for some ""care credit"" which I did not want to do, (it was declined anyway) and then, proceeded to badger me about payments (again) and such. I was literally there for 30 minutes while I had a dog that just wanted to go home. And by the way - even though they had drawn blood (to check for Addisons, diabetes and other urgent issues), I was told they were not going to 'run' the lab because that was another 150. So they were going to just toss the blood. Without the blood, my entir bill for exam and 2 xrays was 190 and for the 190 i was grilled, by the office manager for a good 30 minutes. Ridiculous. She went on to say, we can't do that for you because we would have to do it for everyone (I was the only one standing there at the desk or in the main room). Frankly, again I was a repeat client over the years and had always paid up front. I really did not care what other customers did. I handed this woman back the medication the doctor had given me for my dog (knocked 40 bucks off the bill right there).\r

Good thing he didn't bloat - they'd have let him die. I will not return, ever. Their policies lack compassion. I understand needing to be paid but when you are an established cash paying customer and ask for a one time thing in an urgent situation, I would have liked to see a little faith and some compassion.
