Facets is a real treasure for Chicago film lovers. This theater screens both old and new foreign films that you want to see but can't find in any mainstream theater. It's difficult to park around here, better to cab it. They offer a membership with discounted tickets, and if you like their offerings, you probably want to consider it. They also have a movie rental section, with some great choices. A friend brought me here, and I am so grateful he did. It's now one of my favorite places. more

Serious film buff's video resource 1/6/2006

I first came to Facet's to watch "Children of Paradise" in their theater. They run it every year around the holidays. If you are not familiar with this movie go and find it immediately. It has been my favorite for years. Of course the problem is, it is hard to find. Go to Facets if you are in Chi town. In addition to the upstairs theater they have a huge room downstairs that has a big collection of videos to rent. These are not the ones you find at Blockbuster. These are old, foreign, esoteric or films that are valuable and of interest to film buffs. Since this place is not as convenient as your local megalithic video store, you will not continue to use this resource unless you are really hard core. more
