Tops on the West Coast 5/1/2009

F&S is almost too good to be true. I've run into shoppers there who have come from great distances to shop. The fabricse are absolutely first rate...and so plentiful that I'm constantly seeing patterns and textures that I'd never seen before. Lou, the owner, and all of his floor people are super helpful and knowledgeable. Browsing the rows and rows of fabrics jogs the imagination and makes you think up new projects so you have an excuse to buy more. The place looks like it would be expensive, but the prices are surprisingly low. more

Best fabric store on the west coast 11/11/2007

F & S's three stores rock in the extreme--as the kids say. I think this must be rainbows come to bone up on color. The owner, Louis (I can't pronounce his last name,) is a fabric guru--a regular "Shmata Yoda." Louis and his well-versed staff will guide you through the gallaxy that is F&S. more

need to extend the hours 12/13/2006

I live in the neighborhood and have been buying from F&S for years. One draw back I found is that their hours are very inflexible. They close at 6pm daily just when the mothers get homes from work. When the kids need fabric for school projects we cannot even get into the stores. Also, I found the staff at the store are not that friendly. I got these comments from my friends too. more

Fabric Heaven 5/24/2006

Are you looking for something different and unsual? Looking for a specific fabric print? Or just addicted to buying fabric? Well, this is the place for you. This huge store is full of all sorts of great fabrics ranging from bolts of cashmere and hand dyed silk to the largest selection of novelty prints you've ever seen. The prices can be premium, but they do have alot of stuff no one else has. It can be hard to flag down an employee, but when you do they will be very attentive. They also have a teriffic selection of ribbons and trims. more

Good location on West Pico in L.A. Great selection of fabrics like wall coverings, bed coverings, window treatments, lamp-shades, and other interior designs fabrics for your the living room, dining room, bedroom, and even bathroom.. Great wholesale prices and lots of different materials, colors, patterns, sizes, makers, etc. Excellent place and decor-savvy staff make this the best choice for fabrics in L.A. more

Fabric, fabric and more fabric! 9/26/2005

As I was strolling down the street one day, I decided to satisfy a curiosity of mine for a long time. I stepped into the F&S Fabric store. There are three different stores specializing in different aspects of fabric and accessories. I had entered another world. As someone who can't sew, this was overwhelming, but inspiring as well. I could see if you were an seamstress or interior designer how this would be a lot of fun! Needless to say, I didn't buy anything, so I'm not sure if the prices are outrageous or not, but it is a place where making a new bedroomset, curtains, pillows, upholstery, etc. could be customized all to meet your needs and whims. more

F&S with its three (soon to be four) stores on Pico Boulevard is by far one of the best fabric stores in the city. Each location focuses on different types of fabric (i.e., home, general sewing, discount). Employees are incredibly knowledgeable and their selection is phenomenal. From french lace to outdoor fabric they have it all. Anyone who enjoys sewing will be able to spend hours browsing their aisles. more
