I have been a nanny for several families since I was a teenager, and have never been placed with such a difficult family. I am still in touch with and close to every other family I have ever cared for. The agency's reaction to my reporting of this was disgusting.
I was placed with a family who tried to screw me out of paying me on several occasions, as well as talked to me in a very disrespectful manner, including profanities in front of the children (4 and 1 year old). Obviously the children didn't have a great example, and therefore, the older of the 2 boys has some behavioral issues. I literally spent one day with him and he was saying ""yes mam"" and behaving nicely.
I went out of my way to adhere to a schedule that changed every single week for 2 months, although the initial contract stated it would be the same time every day. I also went out of my way to provide the boys with hand made charts to get stickers for good behavior.
I had been reporting this to Betsy with ExtraOrdinanny on a regular basis for weeks. Betsy agreed with me that this was unacceptable, however never did anything about it. I asked Betsy several times if she could place me with another family, and she told me it would not be possible to do so beacuse ""if it just didn't work out with this family, it would look bad"" and would have to share that information with future families. So basically I was placed with some dishonest and disrespectful people, and in turn cannot be placed with any family in the area.
Betsy, who runs ExtraOrdinanny actually hung up the phone on me when I called to explain that the issues had only gotten worse and that I could not accept being treated this way. This shows how much this family really cares about the children or the nannies, and is only looking for the money that the family provides. I would suggest looking elsewhere, especially if you are a nanny!
