Fun place for kids 3/29/2006

Exploris is a really fun museum for children and adults who are young at heart. They have a changing series of exhibits so there is always something new and exciting to look at. The museum is better suited for older children, so if you have toddlers, you may want to bring them somewhere else. The IMAX theater is a huge draw and is worth a visit at least once. more

Entertaining and Informative 1/29/2006

Exploris is an interactive museum in downtown Raleigh. Do not hesitate to touch the displays - they want you to handle the objects, learn from them and soak in the knowledge. Exploris offers a museum for the public, an IMAX theater and a middle school. Their theater is the only 3D IMAX theater in the state. more

IMAX!!! 1/22/2006

The best thing about exploris to me is the imax theater. They also have tons of fun hands on exhibits. Right now you can dance with people in nigeria, and ride on a bus down streets around the world. this place is just fun to go to. you can also rent it out for company parties, which is even cooler. more

Interesting museum 12/31/2005

We spent an afternoon at the Exploris Museum with our grandchildren. They have lots of hands on fun things to do, such as tracing different coins. It seems as though they have different exhibits from around the world that change periodically. The IMax Theater is next door and we always enjoy seeing the latest IMax movie with the huge screen and sometimes 3-D. more

Wonderful 12/30/2005

Exploris is a museum taht encourages vistors to explore the world around them. Every exhivbit at this museum takes something in teh world, and has you look at it a little differently. An amazing museum, that now as an imax attached so you can see some wonderful films as well as visit the museum. A truly great place to take children, or go as an adult. more

Exploris Museum 8/23/2005

Okay, so this place is really odd - but in a good way. It seems like sort of an "international awareness" museum. It's attached to an iMax theatre, which is interesting. Also, the area is really attractive, it's right downtown next to moore square, and it's really been spruced up. Great place to take a date! more

Great for older children 8/23/2005

Exploris is a very neat museum near downtown Raleigh. It features exhibits about resources and cultures of lands around the world. It has hands on exhibits. Special events with a global flair are scheduled here occasionally. The museum has a gift shop with unique items from around the world. There is also a coffee shop and snack bar. While this is a very interesting place for adults and older children, I can see how young children could become bored. There is also an IMAX theater here. more

Neat 8/19/2005

Really, the best part about Exploris is the IMAX theatre. It has a huge screen and great sound. It costs probably twice what a regular movie theatre will charge, but it is worth every penny for the experience. It is especially worth the price now that they have started showing more “real” movies. I wish they would re-release some of the movies they have already shown - wouldn't it be fun to go see all of the Harry Potter movies in a weekend or even over a 3 week period? more

awesome 8/18/2005

I love this place. This first time I went I wasn’t sure what to expect. The best part is the IMAX theatre. it has a giant screen, great sound. It costs more than a regular movie theatre but it is worth every penny. Especially now that they have started showing more “real” movies. more

hands on fun 8/18/2005

Exploris is a new, hands-on museum aimed towards piquing kids' curiosity about the world. There are many exhibits, along with an IMAX theater. There is an emphasis on diversity and other cultures, giving kids a peek into the lives of people living in very different circumstances than their own. It's worthwhile for kids and adults. more

IMAX is great! 8/17/2005

The Exploris in downtown Raleigh is great! I came here one of my first trips down here before I moved here. I saw a show at the Imax theater and loved it! I saw more of an educational film, however they now show Feature films which is great! The price is higher than a regular movie theater however it is worth it. The screen is huge and you feel much more part of the actual movie. more

Phenomenal experience 7/26/2005

The IMAX Theater at Exploris in downtown Raleigh is a great place to see a movie. I didn't really understand all of the IMAX hype until I saw one of the Harry Potter movies here. The screen is huge, the picture is very, very sharp, and the sound makes regular movie theater speakers sound like cheap headphones. The tickets are pricier than a regular theater, so save it for a must-see summer blockbuster, but it's a perfect Sunday afternoon treat. Tickets are available both in person and online, and it definitely pays to arrive early for the best seating. more
